Barfield gave the devotional. Mrs. Burnett, president, presided, .and Mias Annie Abbott, secretary-treasurer, made a report. Mrs. J J. Terrell closed the meeting. While visiting the Smoky Moun tains national park, Leiper climbed a forest fire control tower to get a better view. When he began climbing down he saw a mother bear and cub awaiting him. Leiper waited “a long while” for the bear* to leave. They wouldn’t. Finally an Idea came to him. He climbed back up Into the tower booth, picked up the telephone there and called for help.
