George Tomasic, limiting the
Valley Rebels to nine scattered
hits, notched his fifth victory of
the season for the Griffin Tigers
with a 4 to ? win over the Rebels
Wednesday night.
Tomasic got good backing from
his teammates afield and at bat
and he broke a victory string for
the Rebels ct six str,sight games
Langdon started on the mound
for the Repels and pitched all but
two-thirds cf the contest. He was
relieved In the eighth inning by

to right field. Dab Laney grounded
out and Sanders scored on Bob
Adcock’s fly to centerfleld. Robert
Rinker grounded out for the third
out.
Griffin went two -uns out front
by scoring once in the fourth inn
ing. Robert Rinker led off with a
single and was sacrificed to second
by Frank Forrester. George Noga
fouled out to Morgan at first for
the second out and James Hargis
sing ed to right to score Rinker
George Tomasic struck out, retir
ing the side.
Griffins lead was pushed to four
runs in the seventh Inning when two
runners crossed the plate. Lewis
Sanders led off by iouling out to
Blackburn. Gene Pollard rapped out
a single and was fol'owed by Dab
Laney who singled. Pollard scored
on Bob Adcock's double and Laney
went to third Robert Rinker drew
a free ticket to first and Laney
came home when Langdon uncork
ed a wild pitch while pitching to
Prank Forrester who struck out.
REBELS SCORE
The Rebels scored both their runs
In the eighth-inning, after threat
ening to score in the seventh
Blackburn singled and stole second
base. He went on to third when
Rinker threw the ball away trying
to catch him sliding into second
Bteckel walked and was forced at
second when Spruill gained first on
a fielder’s choice. Mslvern Morgan
singled and Blackburn scored.
Chapman went to first on a field-
er’s choice when Morgan was forced
at second and Spruill scored from
third on the play for the second
and last run of the game for the
Rebels.
The victory over Valley failed to
give Griffin any gain on the Hor
nets of Carrollton who are In seven
th place, since they won also. But
H did give them a gain of • game
on the top three clubs who lost
their games, drawing the league
into a tighter knot. Only 10 games
separate the first and eighth place
clubs.
Tonight the Tigers travel to Lan
ett for a gamp with the Valley Reb
els. They will be back In the home
park Saturday night when they
play the loop leading Newnan
Browns.

the Griffin High School gym Sat
urday night at 8:30.
The matches this week are being
sponsored by the American Legion
and they have arranged an all-star
card for their first sponsored mat

Tomy Ward will put his cham
pionship belt on the line against
the rugged Gorgeous George Ar
ena in a one fall match with no
