brated their 50th anniversary

an, Denise Buchanan, Louann
Gaddy and Mrs. John Green of
East Point.
Many friends called between

Mr. Patrick Talks
To Spalding PTO
George Patrick, superinten
dent of Griffin-Spalding Schools,
gave an informative talk on the
various phases of the school pro
gram in Spalding County at the
January meeting of the Spalding
Junior High Parent Teacher Or
ganization.
Mrs. Russell Smith, president,
called the meeting to order and
introduced Jennie Newton, Pam
Robinson and Linda Cox, mem
bers of the 8th grade Y Club, who
presented the inspirational on
“God’s Purpose for America”.
The minutes of the last meet
ing were read by the secretary,
Mrs. Howell Shackelford. In the
absence of the treasurer, Mrs.
Robert Beaty, Mrs. Smith gave
the report. It was announced
that the PTO will sponsor a
“take out” barbecue April 8. Ho
ward Gossett is chairman of the
project.
The following officers were no
minated by the nominating com
mittee and elected by the PTO:
President, Mrs. T. W. Allen;
first vice president, Mrs. Howell
Shackelford: second vice presi
dent, Mrs. Russell Smith; secre
tary, Mrs. George Stewart and
treasurer, Mrs. Andrew Whalen.
These officers will be installed
at the April meeting.
Mrs. Louis Goldstein, program
chairman, introduced Mr. Pat
rick. Mr. Patrick also spoke on
school finances, new develop
ments with the HEW and future
plans for the Spalding County
Schools and faculty members.

Public notice is given that General Services Administration
will conduct an investigation of possible sites for a Post
Office and Federal Office Building in Griffin, Georgia. Re
presentatives of General Services Administration will be in
Griffin on March 1 through 3, 1967 for the purpose of the
site investigation, and can be contacted on these dates
through the Postmaster, Griffin, Georgia.
A site approximately 105,225 sq. ft. with a minimum front
age of 345 feet on a public street will he required within or
on the perimeter of an area hounded by Broad Street on the
north, Fourth Street on the east, Poplar Street on the south
and Eleventh Street on the west. Owners of parcels aggregat
ing less than the size specified, but to which adjoining
parcels may be added to produce a site of required size, are
encouraged to offer such parcels for inspection. Sites which
may be donated to the Federal Government are solicited as
well as sites which are available for sale.
The General Services Administration will consider proposals
to exchange the existing Post Office site (15,600 sq. ft.) with
improvements (10,343 gross sq. ft.), or other Government
excess or surplus properties for suitable property on which
to locate the proposed new building. An exchang : will be
based on the appraised fair market value of the properties
offered in exchange.
Owners or agents desiring to submit for consideration
should submit site data to:

Celebrates
10th Birthday
Robin Kendrick, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kendrick,
1326 Ellis road, celebrated her
10th birthday with a party at her
home Saturday afternoon.
Games were played and priz
es were won by Ricky Lusk and
Robin Kendrick.
Ice cream and cake were ser
ved by Mr, and Mrs. Kendrick.
Guests were Jan and Barbara
Odell, Marlee Stephens, Sarolyn
Kendrick, Ricky Lusk, Eugenia
Kendrick and the honoree.
Royce McCrary, was introduced
by Bill Cody, principal of Unit
One. Four practice teachers from
Tift College, Miss Betty Patter
son, Miss Margaret Ann Heard,
Miss Patricia Horne and Miss
Sherry Dorrer, were introduced
by Mr. Cody.

Club Has
January Meet
The January meeting of the
Morning Glory Garden Club was
held at the home of Mrs. Ronnie
Cain.
Reports were given during the
business session. A committee
was appointed to nominate the
new officers which will be voted
on at the February meeting and
installed in March.
Mrs. Henry Moxley was wel
comed as a visitor.
