Sugar Bags
DEAR POLLY — When my
husband returned from the hos
pital after being treated for an
accident, he required a special
bed roll under his neck and sand
bags at each side of his head to
keep him lying flat and to show
him how far he could turn. Sand
bags were expensive and too lar
ge for an ordinary twin bed so
I bought two five-pound bags of
sugar, put plastic bags over
them and then folded pillowcas
es over them, using cases that
were a different color from the j
sheets. Then he would recognize
this was the space he was allow- i
ed and no more. The sugar pro-!
ved just as efficient as the sand: |
the size was even better due
to the size of his bed. After hea
vy expenses, this was a way to ;
save on what was to be a tem- ;

DEAR POLLY — Does anyone
remember how to thread a leng

button to make it hum? I rem- 1
ember how this would entertain
a child but not how to do it. —
MRS. W.L.C.
DEAR POLLY — When my
two boys were small I used an
expandable door guard, as many
mothers do, to keep them from
falling down the stairs. Now they
are 4 and 5 and no longer need
the stair guard but I did need
some place to hang their paja
mas within easy reach. I have
taken the springs off the door
guard, drilled holes in it for woo
den pegs to go in and have hung
it on the wall in their room. —

chair, put the child in it and

security, tie the legs of the tray
to the chair and then you have
a large tray with sides for baby,
