MOON STATION equipped with a telescope operable from the earth is the subject of
a study being done by Westinghouse Electric Corporation, funded by the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration. The artist’s sketch shows future astronauts
installing a “Mt. Palomar on the Moon,” offering such advantages for space observances
as a stable platform, cool even temperature, and absence of the dense atmosphere that
earth-bound telescopes must penetrate.
