Pig Runs Wild
Before Execution
SENDAI, Japan (UPD—Tired
of shaggy dog stories? Here’s
one about a perturbed pig.
The 250-pound hog rebelled
Friday Just minutes before it
was to become pork chops,
bacon and ham at a local
slaughterhouse.
It jumped a four-foot fence
and went on a three-hour
rampage, pursued by 10 police
men and 15 slaughterhouse
workers.
Before being caught and hog
tied, the porker:
—Knocked down farmer Chor
oku Sugai and bit him badly on
tiie arm.
—Ran over farmer Yokl
Watanabe in a banzai charge.
—Knocked Mrs. Watanabe
into a creek.
— Bit two slaughterhouse
workers who tried to grab it.
—Bit fanner Tomoji Abe
twice.
Mothers locked their children
indoors as word of the pig’s
rampage spread through the
farming community so miles
north of Tokyo.
Tile hog finally was returned
to the slaughterhouse and
promptly executed.
