Friday night at 8 p.m. the an
nual green and white game will
be played. Next year’s varsity
prospects will be divided into
two teams. The game will give
fans an opportunity to see what
1967 football will hold for Griffin
High school.
This week’s chapel program
will be presented by the six can
didates for student body presi
dent. Each candidate will be gi
ven five minutes during which
time both he and his campaign
manager will give a speech and
demonstrations will be held.
The primary election will be
held April 7 and the general el
ection between the top two can
didates on April 11. Candidates
whose names will appear on the
primary ballot are Carolee Al
len, Danny Clark, Martha Dawn,
Howard Foster, Reggie Griffin,
and Jeff Wright.

Honor Teachers

Students at Spalding remem
bered their teachers in a spec
ial way last week.
The faculty was honored on
“Appreciation Day’’ on Thurs
day of last week by Mrs. Wyn
ne’s, Mrs. Merritt’s and Miss
Williams’ Tri-Hi-Y Clubs. Re
freshments were served in the
teachers’ lounges and each tea
cher was presented with a car
nation.
Nine weeks exams have been
completed at Spalding and re
port cards go out Monday. The
final quarter of the term begins
Friday which means that there
are 45 school days before sum
mer vacation begins.

season with its first game ag
ainst Lithonia Wednesday.
After a third place rating in
the state tournament last year,
Coach Johnny Goodrum is an

season this year.

II at Spalding, attended the
American Personnel and Gui
dance Association convention
held in Dallas, Texas
Mrs. Henri Wheeless, English
teacher at Spalding, was also
out of town over the holidays.
Mrs. Wheeless visited relatives
in Tampa, Fla.
Friday marks the end of
spring football practice and the
beginning of the baseball sea
son. The ninth grade baseball
team will be organized soon. The
eighth grade baseball team has
begun practice and is being
coached by Mr. Harvey Ogles

The 1966 Fairmontonian re
ceived a third place superior
rating at the 16th annual Sou
thern Regional School Press In
stitute held at Savannah State
College. The score was 48.5 of a
possible score of 50. The annual
is a reflection of an outstanding
job by editor, Elaine Dumas and
her staff. Mrs. R. P. Whitaker
is the advisor.
Six delegates will attend the
49th annual GT&EA Meeting to
day and Friday In Atlanta. To
days’ speaker will be Dr. A1U
son Davis, professor of psycho
logy, University of Chicago. Fri
day’s speaker will be Dr. Mar
tin Luther King. Students will
be out of school Friday while
teachers attend this meeting.
The band is preparing for the
District Band Festival, Api^il
14, at Ethel Kight High School
in LaGrange.
