MAIN FORM OF TRANSPORTATION at the Expo grounds will be the “Expo Express,” a mass transportation system that will carry visitors from
end to end of the grounds free of charge. The entire 3¥«-mile trip over the site will take about 10 minutes. Five stations will be located at major
exhibit areas.

lions of visitors expected in
Montreal this summer. Here is

Canada Opens
’67 Expo Today

MONTROAL (UPI) —Expo
’67, Canada’s $750 million
World’s Fair, opens its doors
today for the titled and the
elected. The public will begin
pouring in Friday.
About 7,000 guests were
invited to watch the colorful
official opening ceremonies
today on St. Helen’s Island, one
of the two islands on which the
1,000-acre exhibition dedicated
to “Man and His World” was
constructed. The other is He
Notre Dame. The islands lie in
the middle of the St. Lawrence
River.
The most lavish among the
exhibitions entered by 62
nations on five continents is the
sls million Soviet Union build
ing. Its curved roof shelters
replicas of Russian space
vehicles and models of other
technical projects.
The United States exhibit is
connected to the Soviet Union’s
by a “peace bridge.” Inside the
U.S. pavilion, a plastic geodesic

wrapped up its current session
Wednesday night in Ottawa to
allow members to be in
Montreal for the opening.
The ceremony was in an open
amphitheatre called Place des
Nations on St. Helen’s Island.
The concrete gathering site is
surrounded by the flags of the
62 nations taking part in Expo.
The gates will open at 9:30
a.m. EST Friday to visitors
expected to number 500,000 by
the close of the weekend.
