man.
Payne walked nine batters
and allowed only three hits.
Furman’s only run came on a

70-66.
Griffin won the meet on t h e
last event — the mile relay.
Rohm stole the show by win
ning four events and anchoring
the 440 and mile relay teams.
Robert won the 100 yard dash,
220, shot and triple jump. In ad
dition, he ran the last leg on the
440 and mile relays.
The four victories gave Grif
fin 20 points. The relay teams
won 10 points.
Marvin Martin won two events,
the high hurdles and low hurd
les. He was also on both win
ning relay teams.
Steve Jones was third In t h e
shot and second in the discus.
Kerry Phillips was third in dis
cus.
Billy George was third in the
100 yard dash.

ased veteran righthander Jack
Lamabe from the Chicago
White Sox for cash “in excess”
of the $20,000 waiver price.
They also placed pitcher Ron
Taylor on the disabled list with
a back Injury.
Lamabe was 7-9 with the
White Sox last season and has a
1-0 mark this season.

Coach Johnny Goodrum was
very disturbed over the errors.
“Frank Taylor pitched a fine
game (two-hitter) but he didn’t
have support,” the coach moan
ed.
Lithonia scored the winning
runs on errors.
Ernest Holston had two of
Fairmont’s five hits. He slam
med a single and double. The
Bears stole nine bases.
It was Fairmont’s first loss
and left the Bears with an 11-1
record.
Coach Goodrum said he would
start now preparing his fine
team for the state tournament
which begins May 11 in Tifton.

The New York Jets of the
American Football League Wed
nesday signed former Tennessee
linebacker Doug Archibald for
the 1967 season.
Archibald, a. 200-pounder from
Sarasota, Fla., will be tried at
tight safety, according to Jets’
Coach Weeb Ewbank.

The Milner Falcons beat East
Coweta 5-1 Thursday on the one
hit pitching of George Stanley.
The victory gave Milner an 8-1
record in subregion play.
Milner rapped out six hits. Sid
ney Horne had two. John Sikes
and Wayne Vaughn hit doubles
and Danny Cain and Stanley hit
singles.
