WMS Has
May Meeting
Mrs. Lorraine Lawler, program
chairman, was in charge of the
program, "Establishing Chur
ches and Sustaining Fellowship
In Hong Kong” at the May
meeting of the South Side WMS.
The panel was composed of
Mrs. Mildred Kendrick, Mrs. Lo
rene Wilcher, Mrs. Erma Vau
ghn and Mrs. Amy Ballard.
The meeting was held at the
home of Mrs. Gertrude Jones.
Mrs. Alice Leverette led In pray
er. Mrs. Pauline Addington gave
the devotional.
Plans were made to send a
fruit basket to a shut-in.
The meeting closed with pray
er by Mrs. Ballard.
Mrs. Jones served refresh
ments to the following:

The marriage of Miss Patri
cia Ann Landers to Mr. Ronnie
David Cassell was solemnized
Saturday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m.
at the Calvary Baptist Church.
The Rev. Paul Wade performed
the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Merrion H. Land
ers of Griffin and the groom Is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. D.
Cassell of Atlanta.
The church was decorated with
a large arch with bell covered
with ivy and magnolia. Two
candelabra were used.
Mr. Jimmy Hamby, organist,
and Mrs. Yvonne Bevil, soloist,
presented a program of nuptial
music including the songs “The
Lord’s Prayer” and “I Love You
Truly”.
Mr. Jerry Davis of Atlanta
served as best man. Ushers were
Mr. Tony Jones of Griffin and
Mr. Randy Pelt of Augusta.
Mrs. E. L. Gass of Chamblee,
sister of the bride, was matron
of honor. She wore a blue gown
of satin and lace with long train.
She carried a single red rose.
Maid of honor was Miss San
dra Landers, sister of the br
ide. She wore a pink gown of
satin and lace with long train.
She carried a single red rose.
Bridesmaids were Miss Joan
Cassell and Miss Peggy Cassell
of Atlanta, sisters of the groom.
One of the bridesmaids wore
a pink satin dress and the other
wore a blue satin dress. They
each carried a single long red
rose.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a white wed
ding gown with long chapel tr
ain. The sleeves came to a po
int over her hands with small
button. The dress had small
buttons down the back, the
neckline was edged with small
flowers. Her veil was attached
to a crown. She carried a bou
quet of carnations centered with
a white orchid and placed on a
white Bible. The Bible was a
gift from the YWA’s.
Mrs. Landers, mother of the
bride, chose a two piece pink
crepe suit with bone accessor
ies. She wore an orchid cor
sage.
Mrs. Cassell, mother of the
groom, chose a light blue shea
th with white accessories. Her
corsage was an orchid.
Following the wedding a re
ception was held at the church.
For a wedding trip to Green
ville, South Carolina the bride
chose a two piece pink suit with
matching shoes. She wore a
white orchid corsage.
The couple will reside at 612
West College street, Apartment
Three.
