DEAR POLLY — I appre
ciate the help the column has
been giving Harold’s wife, who
lost an arm. My 2-year-old dau
ghter has cerebral palsy and we
have a wonderful solution for
bath time. For $8 we bought an
; actual size plastic boat at a dis
| count store. Placed on an old
kitchen table, it can be filled
from the basement faucet and
the water later siphoned into
the floor drain. This allows our
daughter to stretch out full-leng
th and paddle round and round.
If she bumps the plastic side it
I does not hurt her. This is high
I enough so we do not have to
! bend over as we watch and ba
i the her. She has gained crawl
ing techniques since we started
j this and vocalizes so that both
| the occupational and speech ther
| apists feel we have discovered
j a wonderful piece of equipment.
: She loves every minute in the
I tub and has no fear of the wa
| ter. Os course, we keep very
; close watch every minute she is
i in the boat. — MRS. D.W.M.

POLIOS POINTERS
Plastic Boat
of several very old porcelain
washbowl and pitcher sets. I
would like to display them in
my home but they have dark
yellow stains in the cracks and
the bottoms of the bowls. I have
tried bleach, cleansers and sc
rubbing pads but to no avail. I
hope one of the readers will
have the solution as I would like
to make them as presentable
as possible. — MRS. J.F.W.
DEAR POLLY — Place a card
with your name and telephone
number at work on the inside of
the windshield of your car. In
case of an accident to the car
while it is parked, you can be
promptly notified. A thoughtful
parking attendant called me
when he noticed one of my tires
had gone flat. Thanks to him, I
was able to be home on time
as I could get my tire fixed be
fore quitting time. — MYRA.
