Buster Smith, manager of the Griffin Babe Ruth All-
Stars, which will compete in the Southeastern Tourna
ment here, has played or coached baseball since he
was a youngster at Kincaid Elementary in Experiment.
Many fans, who saw him play, rate him one of the
best catchers ever to perform here. He caught for one
or two sandlot championship teams and played
American Legion and semi-pro ball. The native Grif
finite managed Booker Firestone to the 1967 Babe
Ruth League championship.

Hosting a Baseball Tournament isn’t all play and no
work. It takes planning and hours of hard labor. Miss
Jean Foster, secretary at the Griffin Recreation De
partment, has done more than her share of the work.
Much of the clerical duties have fallen her way.
