Jackson’s first opponent in the
state playoff will be Cascade of
Atlanta.
Beck Field became a madhou

eighth inning homer.
Although Jackson was three
outs away from victory the visi

run would stand because of the
fine pitching of Jeff English.
It stood and Jackson suppor

Griffin struck the first scoring
blow. It was a home run by
Kenny Hattaway. The blast sail
ed over the right field fence in
the fifth after English and
Crawford had hurled zeroes at
each other for four innings.
Ricky Williams followed Hatta
way’s homer with a double. He
went to third on a wild pitch and
scored on a wild pitch. That
made the score Griffin 2 and
Jackson 0.
English led off the Jackson
sixth with a single. That set the
stage for Edward’s climatic
home run. Griffin fans saw the
lead fade as the ball rocketed
over the fence.
That ended the scoring until
Kitchens’ heroics in the eighth.
Kitchens got hold of a Craw
ford fast ball and sent it zipping
over the left field fence.
Glynn Gossett was Griffin’s
top hitter with a two singles.

TODAY’S MEDITATION
by J. Spence McDonald
Curiously enough, we are at once victims of too
much and too little. We are part of a restless,
probing age which opens new and greater horizons
on a virtual daily basis. It is also an age which has
opened a whole brand new set of worries and
