POLLY'S POINTERS
Lap Trays
DEAR POLLY — Before star
ting on a vacation trip in t h e
car, slide several lap trays un
der the seat. When you stop at
snack bars or hamburger stands
it will be much easier to eat that
gooey sandwich or drink from a
shaky papex - cup and it will
keep the car much cleaner. —
SRNA.
DEAR POLLY — On a windy
day I thoughtlessly threw some
grease out my back door. The
grease blew back onto a window
screen and I want to know if
there is some way I can get the
grease out of the screen. —AR

DEAR DEADERS — I used
white material instead of blot

the photograph from damp spot
to a drier one every so often and
the job was soon finished. —
POLLY.
DEAR POLLY — I had one of
those large plastic clothes bas
kets with lattice-like sides. The
lattice finally became broken in
several places and the basket
collapsed. I told my son to cut a
two-inch lip all around the good
strong bottom and now I have
a rainy-day holder for wet boots.

DEAR POLLY — I needed
some pretty paper in a hurry to
wrap a small present. I spray
ed both sides of a paper towel
with gold paint which dried qu
ickly and the textured pattern
of the towel was very effective
after being painted. Os course,
silver spray could also be used
and this works as well on news
paper or ordinary brown wrap
ping paper. — MRS. S.O.
DEAR POLLY — Preparing
for a golden anniversary party
we wanted to use gold paper
doilies. Trying to cut expenses;
we sprayed white ones with gold
spray paint. They were laid on
newspaper for the spraying and
left there until dry. — MRS. V.

pounds. In addition, there is
a beauty case and a 21-inch
weekend case.
Keep these tips in mind
when preparing for your trip.
Make a list of what you think
you’ll need. Then review it to
see what you can do without.
If you’re like most women
travelers, you’ll probably find
you can easily cut the list in
half before you start to pack.
Place heavy items at the
bottom of the case. If you’re
planning to make several
stops during the trip, put the
things you’ll need first at the
top of your case.
Use the layer-method for
filling the case, placing shoul
ders of one dress at one end
of the case and shoulders of
the next dress at the alter
nate end.
Ordinary rolls of plastic
bags can be used for protect
ing individual pairs of stqpk
ings or gloves. The larger
food-storage-sized plastic bags
can be used for blouses and
lingerie. Take extra bags
along, too, for damp bathing
suits after your “one last
swim” before you leave your
favorite resort.
Take along as many durable
press garments as possible for
these are easy to launder and
need no ironing.
Remember that all gar
ments should be buttoned and
zipped before packing. Fold
skirts and dresses in thirds
lengthwise and place face
down lengthwise in the case.
Take along a selection of
little items too often forgot
ten, that can cause inconven
ience if there is a need to
shop for them. These include
such things as a travel alarm,
sewing kit, stick spot re
mover, sun glasses and extra
film and flashbulbs for your
camera.
