Sports and ‘Sunday best” clothing was made and modeled by those participating
in Mrs. Bess Hoskins’ summer sewing classes in the Home Economics Department
at Griffin High School. Winners in a fashion show held Manday night were
(1-r) Mrs. Bill Booth, Misses Elizabeth McKibben, Gail Simms, Ivey King, Susan
Landram, Carol Perry, Suzanne Montero and Susan Womack. Thirty-two people
participated in the classes. Following the fashion show, refreshments were served.
Several Griffin merchants furnished prizes for the winners.

standoff battle when two
bandits held up a Denver ;
service station owned by Harley <
E. Cahill Jr.
The bandits, armed with a
tire wrench and a rachet :
wrench, squared off with Cahill 11
and an attendant, armed with a
grease gun and a brick.
Police said the two victims
missed with the sticky grease
gun, but hit one of the bandits
with their brick. The two
suspects were arrested a short
W’hile later.
