men charged in an Atlanta
bombing attempt have been
traced as the alleged source of
some $30,000 In stolen equip
ment sold here, officers report
ed.
Georgia Bureau of Investiga
tion agent W. T. Beauchamp
said two Americus men, read
ing reports of arrests in the at
tempted dynamiting of the At
lanta home of William A. Wil
son, told officers the men sold
them the equipment.
Grady Jackson Parker, 28, of
Macon, and Emory Newton
Brown, 46, of Lakeland, Fla.,
have been indicted in connec
tion with the bombing attempt
last week.
Gene Rees, a local farmer,
reported he bought a boat, mo
tor, and trailer rig from the
men, Beauchamp said. Contrac
tor Jimmy Belcher said he
leased a dump truck and ditch
ing machine from the pair.
Beauchamp said the boating
rig was stolen from Ocala, Fla.,
and the truck from Plant City
Fla. Officers believed the ditch
ing machine was stolen in At
lanta.
Bonds Approved

ATHENS, Ga. (UPD—A
sprinkling of Clarke County vot
ers approved Tuesday a series
of projects lumped in a $2.8-
million package bond referen
dum.
Turnout was light for the
election, as only 4,472 of 18,500
registered electors voted on sev
en proposed projects.
Projects approved included a
$750,000 mental health center
and $645,000 for improvements
to roads and bridges.
Others were a SIBO,OOO juve
nile detention home, $170,000 for
a new facility for the county’s
branch of the Department of
Family and Children Services;
$155,000 for improvements at
Athens Municipal Airport, and
$450,000 each for a recreational
development and a new region
al library.
