Exterior changes in the 1968 Cadillac, as shown on this Coupe de Ville (top), include
a new grille and larger parking lights redesigned cornering lights and new marker lights
on the side plus a new deck lid and all chrome rear bumper. Among the safety related
product improvements in all models are: a new concealed windshield wiper and washer
system, recessed door handles and added cushioning in the instrument panel and front
seat backs. Dramatic styling changes to Cadillac’s 1968 Fleetwood Eldorado (bottom)
include new parking lamps located in the leading edge of the front fenders, a new hood
4’4 inches longer and redesigned tailights. All 1968 Cadillac models are powered by a
new 375 h.p. — 472 cubic inch engine which produces 525 foot pounds of torque — the
highest of any production passenger car engine in the world.

Rev. Pruett Turns
To World Missions
The Rev. E. P. Pruett has
turned to missionary evangelism
following recent trips to Africa
and South America.
Already he plans a mission to
Liberia, West Africa, in Janu
ary and February next year. He
plans to go to Korea in October
of 1968.
Other countries he may visit
to do missionary evangelism
include India, Greece and Teh
ran.
The Rev. Pruett has been ap
proved by the Foreign Missions
Board of the General Council of
Assemblies of God. While not
doing evangelistic work over
seas, the Griffin based minister
plans to do evangelistic work in
America.
He resigned as pastor of the
First Assembly of God Church
Sunday, effective Oct. 15.
The Rev. Pruett first came to
Griffin Oct. 2, 1934 and assum-

sembly Oct. 5, 1943. He resign
ed in 1953 to become superinten
dent of the Georgia District of
Assemblies of God and kept that
post until 1959. He went to Pan
ama City, Fla. as pastor there
and returned to Griffin in 1960
to be pastor again of the First
Assembly here.
The Rev. Pruett said the chur
ch is in good financial condition
and Church School enrollment
is more than 700.
Several additions to the build
ing have been made under his
leadership.

Wyoming Take Off Pounds
Sensibly Club members said
Tuesday they had lost a total
979 pounds during the past year.
The loss would have been
even higher, club officers said,
but some members slipped and

CHICAGO (UPI) — Police
searched today for some red
nosed burglars.
The owner of Fun Inc., Jules
Traub said burglars who broke
into his office, a paradise for
practical jokers, spilled 10
pounds of sneezing powder.
“Those guys are probably still
sneezing,” he said.

Fire Department
Reports Two Alarms
The Griffin Fire Department
answered an alarm at 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday afternoon to the 500
block of South Eighth street to
extinguish a truck fire. A bro
ken gas line was reported as
causing the fire and consider
able damage to the motor was
reported. Owner of the truck
was Suburban Gas Company.
A cigarette left on a window
sill caused a fire at 101 Kentuc
ky avenue Tuesday night. Fire
men answered the alarm at 7:10
p.m. Slight damage was report
ed.

Pastor’s Father
Dies In lowa

Mr. Donald L. Calhoun, Sr., of
Fort Madison, lowa, father of
the Rev. Don Calhoun of Sunny
Side, died Tuesday of a heart
seizure.
Funeral arrangements are in
complete and will be announced
Hie Rev. Calhoun, pastor of
Sunny Side Methodist Church,
and Mrs. Calhoun left Tuesday
night for Fort Madison to be
with his mother.

Consolidation
Mayor Carl Pruett and Coun
ty Commission Chairman Jack
Moss will discuss city - county
government consolidation at the
Monday night meeting of the
Griffin-Spalding County Jaycees
at 7:30 at the Moose Club.
They will discuss recommen
dations and progress made by
the 10-man committee appoint
ed to study the feasibility of con
solidation of the governments.
The Jaycees have invited the
city and county commissioners
and Spalding County’s state le
gislators to attend the meeting.

Earns Ph. D. Degree
Mrs. Marion H. Hartshorn
Lee, native of Griffin, has been
awarded her Ph. D. degree in
education and dramatics from
Columbia University in New
York.
She is a faculty member of St.
John University in New York.
Dr. Lee is the daughter of Mrs.
George Hartshorn, 502 South
Sixth street, Griffin. Dr. Lee
graduated from Griffin High
