Three of Den Six as one of its projects. Members of the pack planting shrubbery
are (1-r) Dan Hazel, Jere Moore, Jayt Wynne, Dan Dupree, Dee Duncan and
Steven Gupton. The shrubbery project is part of the pack’s school beautification
program.

—A snag in city council
procedure almost cost the 6,700
residents of this community
their early Christmas present.
But tradition is a hard thing
to break. So after several hours
of work, it passed council and
the residents will receive their
December electric bill marked
“paid in full.”
The local electric company
has, for the past 10 years, given
free electricity to customers as
a Christmas present.

SWALLOWED COINS
MONAGHAN, Northern Ire
land (UPI)—A 49-year-old far
mer was Just as surprised today
as the doctors who found seven
coins in his stomach during an
operation.
“I vaguely remember playing
with a piggy bank as a child,”
said John Mcßennett. “I must
have swallowed some of the
coins.”
Doctors returned the five
pennies and two half pennies
they found.

are teachers In the Griffin-Spal
ding School System.
Mr. Pritchett
To Be Buried
Mr. Joseph Cicero Pritchett of
4 First Street, East Griffin, died
early Friday night at the Griffin-
Spalding Hospital where he had
been a patient 10 days.
He had been In declining heal
th and became seriously 111 three
weeks ago.
A native of Habersham Coun
ty, he had been a resident of
Griffin since he was a young
man. He was employed at Dun
dee Mill No. Three until he re
tired in 1952.
Survivors include a daughter
with whom he had made his
home, Mrs. D. L. Rivers of Grif
fin; two sons, Lewis Pritchett
and Lee Pritchett of Durham,
N.C.; a brother, Lewis Pritchett
of Smyrna, Ga., five grandchil
dren and four great grandchild
ren.
Funeral services will be con
ducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. In
Haisten’s Chapel. The Rev. M.
E. Butler will officiate. Burial
will be In Oak Hill cemetery.
The body Is at Halsten Funeral
Home.

LONDON (UPD — Butchers
began raising meat prices today
because of an increase in
transportation costs caused by
the closing of many markets in
an effort to halt an epidemic of
hoof and mouth disease. Nearly
83,000 cattle, sheep, goats and

VICTIMS BURIED
BROOKW OOD, England
(UPD—Nineteen persons killed
in the Nov. 4 crash of an Iberia
Airlines Caravelle jet south of
London were buried Thursday
in a common grave. Thirty
seven persons died in the crash
of the Malaga-London flight
near the small village of
Fernhurst.

MINISKIRTS RAISE EXPORTS

yet another success for the
miniskirt. Chairman J. A.
Winkup of the British Man
made Fibers Federation told
the group’s annual meeting
Tuesday that miniskirts and
new types of stockings and
tights have boosted British
exports by nearly S2B million so
far this year.
Funeral Sunday
For Mrs. Conner
Mrs. Marie Turner Conner, 46,
wife of Joseph Leon Conner, of
Route Two, Griffin, Memorial
Drive, died early Friday morn
ing at her home after a long ill
ness.
She was a native of Clayton
County and had resided most of
her life in Griffin. Until illness
forced her retirement, she was
employed by American Mills.
She was a member of the Pl
ainview Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she
is survived by five daughters,
Mrs. Richard Gulledge, Mrs.
Wendell Cobb, Miss Peggy Long,
Mrs. J. W. McGuffey and Miss
Donna Long, all of Griffin; two
sons, James C. Long of East
Point and Steve Long of Griffin;
five grandchildren; two sisters,
Mrs. Opel stokes of Hapeville
and Mrs. Ray Adams of East
Point; three brothers, Hubert
Turner of College Park, Ray
mond Turner of Jonesboro and
Harry Turner of Albany, Ga.
Funeral services will be held
Sunday afternoon at 3:30 from
the Plainview Baptist Church.
The Rev. Graydon Morgan and
the Rev. J. W. Thomas will offic
iate. Burial will be m Oak Hill
cemetery.
The body is at Haisten Funer
al Home. It will lie in state 30
minutes before the funeral at
the church.
HAIRCUT PROTEST
OSAKA, Japan (UPD—AII
1,600 students of the Osaka
Commercial (mens) University
have cut classes to stage a
protest demonstration against
crew cuts, which they call "old
fashioned.” A school regulation,
in effect since 1928, requires
students to “crop their hair
closely.”
