Couple Injured
In Auto Wreck
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lynch of
Route One, Zebulon, were injur
ed Wednesday afternoon when
the car they were riding In col
lided with a truck at the Ex
pressway and Georgia 54 at Jo
nesboro.
They weae treated at the Grif
fin-Spalding County Hospital for
cuts and bruises.
Mr. and Mrs. Lynch were on
their way to Atlanta.
Lynch is employed at South
ern States Printing Co. in Grif
fin.

City Cautions
About Atlanta
Repair Firm
City Manager Jack Langford
today warned Griffinites to be
cautious of an Atlanta firm sell
ing aluminum siding through
long distance telephone calls
here.
Langford said several Griffin
ites were charged. In some cas
es, as much as twice the amount
the jobs could have been done
by local contractors.
He said the firm also does re
pair work, such as replacing por
ch floors and rotten timbers.

The Beaverbrook fifth grade
girls’ 4-H Club held their Christ
mas party recently.
Miss Ophelia Carden and se
veral of the girls gave demon
strations on Christmas decora
tions they had made.
Presents were exchanged. Cake
cookies, candy and soft drinks
were served.
Griffin Pharmacist
Speaks To Students
Armon Neel, Jr., Griffin phar
macist, spoke Monday at the
Georgia School of Pharmacy at
the University of Georgia in
Athens.
Neel spoke on. “Aspects in Mo
dern Pharmacy in The Pharma
ceutical Center.”
He told the students that in to
day's highly specialized age, the
pharmacist is a more vital mem
ber of the medical team than
ever before.

Held In 3 Rapes;
26 Burglaries
A former Griffinite has been
charged with three counts of
rape and 26 burglaries in Fulton
and DeKalb Counties.
Richard McDaniel, 22, of At
lanta, formerly of South 10th st
reet, Griffin, is charged with
raping two 17-year-old girls in
Fulton County and another teen
age girl in DeKalb County.
He also is charged with 26 ,
burglaries In the two counties.
McDaniel was convicted on a
"peeping tom” charge in Spald
ing County Superior Court in
1966 and was sentenced to 12
months in prison. He also was
sentenced to 12 months on pro-1
bation on another charge.
Griffin police said McDaniel
had been living in Atlanta since
being released from prison here.
Mrs. Washington
Will Be Buried
BARNESVILLE, Ga. — Mrs.
Ida Mae Washington, Route One,
Barnesville, died Wednesday
morning at the Upson County j
Hospital at Tromaston.
She was born in Wilcox County
and was a member of the Meth
odist Church.
Survivors include her husband,
George M. Washington, two sons,
Melvin Washington and Robert
Washington, all of Barnesville;
six sisters, Mrs. Gladys Kohut
and Frances Williamson, both of
Fayetteville, Mrs. Ruby Jones,
Forest Park, Mrs. Christine Kill
ingsworth of Birmingham, Ala.,
Mrs .Ovalyn Miller of North
Augusta, S.C., Mrs. Betty Knight
of Columbus, Ga.; four brothers,
G. T. Hamilton of Columbus,
Ga., C. F. Hamilton, Jackson
ville, Fla., Ralph Hamilton and
Bobby Hamilton, four grandchil
dren, several nieces and nep
hews.
Funeral services will be con
ducted Friday afternoon at 3:30
at the First Baptist Church in
Barnesville. The Rev. W. Ho
ward Ethington and the Rev.
Samuel Lawson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Liberty
Baptist Church in Butts County.
Hubbard Funeral Home of
Barnesville is in charge of ar
rangements.

Ronald H. Deßarry has joined
the Thompson and McKinnon
stock market office in Griffin.
It is at 113 West Taylor street
and had a grand opening about
a month ago.
Carl Kelley opened the office
and will continue to be associa
ted with it.
Deßarry came to Griffin from
Greenville, S.C., and has been
associated with the Thompson
and McKinnon organization se
veral years.
A native of Auburndale, Fla.,
he graduated from the Univer
sity of Florida and served in the
Army. He is married to the for
mer Beverly Mason of Rock
mart. They are the parents of
a three-month-old daughter, Ka
ren Leslie.
Griffinite’s
Brother Dies
Mr. W. I. Dennis of Valdosta,
Ga., died Tuesday. Mr. Dennis
celebrated his 90th birthday in
i November.
Mr. Dennis was the brother of
' Mrs. Mary E. Waldrop of Gris-
I fin.
Funeral services will be con
ducted today in Valdosta.

endorsed a treaty barring
