Some Meter
Reading Was
Delayed Here
Due to the heavy year - end
work load, the Christmas and
New Year holidays, and large
number of employee absences
during the flu epidemic the me
ter reading schedule of the Light
and Water Department became
delayed in early January.
Because late readings would
have resulted In a longer than
usual period between the De
cember and delayed January
readings, the amount of electric
ity and water used would have
been larger than normal. In or
der to avoid sending out high
bills the Department sent out
bills for only the average month
ly use for each customer affec
ted.
Charles Smith, superintendent
of the Department, explained
that no Inaccuracies will result,
since the February billing is ba
sed upon total consumption bet
ween the December and Febru
ary meter readings with credit
given for usage billed in Janu
ary.
The relatively few customers
Involved, according to Mr. Smi
th. are those whose meters are
normally read between about
the eighth and fifteenth of each
month.
