No Excuse
For Murder
The only legal means by which one human being can
take another’s life are self defense, war, protection (in
some instances) of home and loved ones, and the execu
tion of the death sentence of a court. Morally, a number
of people question one or more of these.
Certainly there is no justification for taking a human life
in cold blood. This applies to individuals, groups, and
mobs.
Dr. Martin Luther King was a symbol. To countless
Americans, he personified their struggle for justice; to
countless others, all that they despised.
It is not for the Griffin Daily News to assess him as a
man. We heap neither accolades of praise nor ashes of
condemnation upon his coffin.
However, as positively as possible, and in no uncertain
terms, we do condemn his killer and caution everyone
(ourselves included), against the insane hatred and the
diabolical malice which took this human life.

Braves Rated
Second Division
Baseball experts, who watched the Braves in spring
training, have arrived at a unanimous decision:
Atlanta is a second division team.
Writers for the top wire services (UPI and AP) predict
the Braves will finish sixth. NEA rates them seventh, a
notch above Houston, Philadelphia and New York.
The wire services disagree on the eventual winner. UPI
picks St. Louis to repeat. AP picks Cincinnati and Pitts
burgh one -two with the Cardinals a close third.
NEA agrees with UPI. It picks St. Louis.
We haven’t seen the Braves so we can’t give a first hand
observation. However, judging from statistics, they are im
proved, especially at shortstop and second base.
They are also improved in centerfield. Stationing Felipe
Alou there had to help.
Clete Boyer is a fixture at third. He rates with the best
glovemen in the business. He likes to bat in Atlanta Stad
ium and should have another productive season.
Deron Johnson could possibly regain his 966 form
when he knocked in 130 runs.
Joe Towe is rated with the best catchers in the Majors.
He is a solid .300 hitter.
Hank Aaron is in right field. He’ll do his share.
That leaves pitching and left field.
Luman is searching for a fly chaser to replace Rica
Carty, who’ll miss the 1968 campaign because of illness.
Pitching?
Several pitchers have made good showings in spring
training. Others haven’t.
However, we feel Atlanta pitching will be better in ’6B
than it was in ’67.
The improvement will come in speed— not throwing
speed but defensive speed. Because of additional speed,
the Braves should be able to turn in the big play more
often.
Where do we think the Braves will finish ?
You guess.

Sound Rules for Healthy Living: Slow down—if you
don’t you’re inviting premature old age. — Avoid fatigue
—it is a killer and produces poisons that injure the nervous
system. When you are tired, rest completely. — Maintain
a youthful mental attitude—resolve not to grow old, and
avoid yearning for the “good old days.”

Whosoever
I would like to know if the
phrase, “Whosoever will msy
come*’, is in the Bible. I am fa
miliar with the song, “Whoso
ever Will May Come", but I
have been unable to find this
precise phrase in the concordan
ce. Perhaps you can enlighten
me. H.P.G.
The word '‘whosoever” is us
ed about 90 times in the New
Testament, and although the ex
act phrase, “Whosoever will
may come”, Is not used, it Is
everywhere implied and assum
ed. It is probably taken from Re
velation 2:15 which says: “Who
soever will, let him take of the
water of life freely.”
The use of the word “whoso
ever’ so many times in the
New Testament reveals what
we might call the “democracy’
of God. His invitation is to ev
eryone, regardless of race, class,
or creed. This is what makes the
Gospel of Jesus Christ so attrac
tive. 1 have preached the Gos
pel on every continent, without
trying to adapt it to any parti
cular culture, and the same res
ponse has been evident every
where.
Millions of people love Jesus
Christ, and Jesus loves the peo
ple of the world. When one of
our Holy Land Tour groups were
flying over the Egyptian desert
enroute to Cairo, they had a song
service on the plane. One of the
Egyptian stewardesses crowd
ed up to the microphone, and
said, “I’d like to sing a song ab
out Jesus.” She sang, “Jesus lo
ves the little children, all the
children of the world.’ Truly,
His appeal is universal.
