Student Council
Making Plans

The Student Council of Grif
fin High met Tuesday of this
■week. Discussed at the meeting
were the sale of pens to raise
money, plans for a talent show
later in the year, and improve
ment of the sign in front of Grif
fin High (for which money is be
ing sought).
The student body elected the
Student Council representatives
in homeroom last week.

Rush week activities at Auburn
University ended recently with
469 women pledging membership
to the 14 sororities. From Griffin
was Hedy White who pledged
membership to the Phi Mu soror

Friday, the 7th grade at Spald
ing Junior High had clubs. The
following clubs elected their of
ficers at the organizational club
meetings:
Mr. Jim Goss’ Citizenship Club
elected as their officers: Harold
Spear, president; Amos Holmes,
vice president; Ken Crawford,
secretary-treasurer, and Clinton
Murphy, chaplain.
The Coin Club with advisor,
Mr. Bob Rosenfield was so lar
ge it was divided into two gr
oups. The officers of the groups
are as follows: Chip Luke and
Hubert Webb, presidents; Randy
Laster and David Skrine, vice
presidents; Joy Georges and Jo
anne Barnes, secretaries; and
John Head and Basil Kitchens,
treasurers.
Connie Patterson was elected
president of Mr. Raymond Br
own’s Library Club. The other
officers include: Jim Kelley, vice
president; George Sims, secre

The eighth and ninth grades
had chapel for the first time this
year on Friday. Susan Ahl and
Dot Dempsey, two members of
the student council, gave the de
votional. Mrs. Margie West, prin
cipal, introduced the guest sp
eaker Reverend Bruce Morgan,
who is the minister of the First
Baptist Church. Rev. Morgan
gave a very inspiring talk on the
subject “How Tall is a Giant”.
