Arch A. Moore Jr., R-W.Va.,

ATLANTA (UPl)—The vice
president of the Atlanta Mer
chandise Mart said at dedica
tion ceremonies for the new
addition Sunday that he be
lieves “this region has merely
crossed the threshold in retail
growth In consumer products.”
Claude A. Petty, Jr., who Is
also the mart’s general manag
er, said the mart's sphere of
influence Included 20 million
consumers with an annual
spendable income of $35 billion,
and retail sales well above $23
billion.
Governor Lester Maddox also
spoke at the dedication of the
expanded mart, which is now
the second largest in the nation.
The new addition doubles the
size of the original and contains
two million square feet of show
room space, equivalent to four
football fields.
Maddox participated in a rib
bon-tying ceremony and said
the giant building symbolized a
"new and dynamic connection
between Atlanta, Georgia and
the world.”

A yes vote on these three amendments strengthens Georgia’s agricultural economy
AMENDMENT 4 - Provides for maintaining a school lunch program in Georgia schools. Funds
have been provided for this purpose but a legal technicality has the
appropriation tied up.
AMENDMENT 18-Allows your elected state representative to regulate the sale of milk and
milk substitutes in Georgia. Previously under this authority the housewife paid
59c for Yi gal of milk.
The farmer received $7.39 per hundred pounds. Store profit 11.5%. Today
without this authority the housewife pays 61c for % gal. of milk.
The farmer receives $6.66 per hundred pounds. Store profit 27.5%.

AMENDMENT 19—Allows producers of agricultural products to elect by ballot to establish com
missions for conducting programs of research, promotion and marketing of
their product through personal assessment of the producer. Past experience
indicates that the consumer gets a better product when these programs are
conducted.
EXPENSES OF AMENDMENTS 18 AND 19 ARE PAID BY THE PRODUCER AND
DO NOT COST ONE PENNY OF TAX MONEY. THE TAXPAYER PAYS NOTHING.
