Win Opening Games
t By VITO STELLINO
L’PI Sports Writer
The Mets gave Montreal a
hearty welcome to the league
» Tuesday by losing a wild 11-10
contest to the Expos that kept
intact the Mets' record of never
winning an opener. Meanwhile,
» a pitcher the Mets lost in the
expansion draft, Dick Selma,
pitched a five-hitter to give San
Diego a 2-1 victory over
A Houston in its first game.
Since the American League's
two expansion clubs, Seattle and
Kansas City also won, it was a
sweep for the four new clubs
who’ve boosted the total of
major league teams to 24.
Selma gave up a first inning
run but then checked the Astros
on three hits the final eight
innings to beat Don Wilson. Ed
Spiezio homered in the fifth and
Ollie Brown doubled in the sixth
