Floating Weed
Small air bladders which
look like berries attached by
stalks to the stem of the
gulfweed make the Sargas
sum very buoyant. Huge
areas of the weed drift slow
ly in an enormous eddy in
the Atlantic Ocean to make
the so-called Sargasso Sea.

Perdue Says He
Wasn’t Forced Out
ATLANTA (UPD—Jack Per
due, former chief deputy insur
ance commissioner for Georgia,
said Tuesday his boss James
Bentley did not force his resig
nation last week.
Perdue implied that there was
really pressure on him to re
main on the job, because he re
signed to run for Bentley’s job
as comptroller general. Howev
er, most political observers ex
pect Bentley to go all out for
the Republican nomination for
governor in 1970.
Bentley told newsmen that
Perdue resigned after being
confronted with reports that in-
surance companies had been
asked to contribute to a politi
cal war chest for Perdue.
Trainee Victim
Was Ohio Man
FT. BENNING, Ga. (UPD —
The Army has identified the
young officer candidate killed

Martins Ferry, Ohio.
Tre trainee was struck with

killed an Army enlisted man
