POLLY’S POINTERS
Pictures of Parents’ Past
Presented at Anniversary
By POLLY CRAMER
DEAR POLLY—I want to tell Mrs. R. N. T. that I keep
my laundry cart liner from coming off the frame by sew
ing three large buttons, evenly spaced, across each end
and directly beneath the flap. Next I sewed three twill-tape
loops on the bottom of each flap to correspond with the
placement of the buttons. If preferred, gripper snaps could
be used instead of the loops and buttons.—MßS. D. D. V.
DEAR POLLY—and Mrs. R. N. T.—l have had no more
trouble keeping the liner in my laundry cart since I sewed
four big hooks and eyes on the corners.—MßS. R. M.

II DEAR POLLY—How does one remove the green 1
1 moss that is left in flower vases? Please tell me a I
g solution to use for soaking such vases.—HELEN
DEAR POLLY—Prior to my parents’ 25th wedding
anniversary party, our
family enjoyed sorting and
choosing our favorites
among the snapshots and
pictures they had collected
through the years. These
included baby pictures of
each, their wedding pic
ture, baby pictures of the
children and many, many
others. These favorites
were arranged on a large
piece of art board headed
“Through the Years.” Under each picture was written the
names of those in it. My husband made a simple brace
type stand for the board and any pictures in large frames
were placed around the base of this stand. I also mounted
the original newspaper announcement of my parents’ wed
ding, along with one that told of this coming party. This
simple display was the hit of the party.—MAßY K.
DEAR GIRLS—Mary K.’s letter reminded me of a gift
received at our own 25th wedding anniversary party. A
round, silver, picture frame had been purchased and a sil
ver dollar, minted during the year of our marriage, inset
into the center of a heavy, white mat. Each guest at the
party autographed this mat, with the names running out in
a sunburst fashion from the inserted dollar. When the party
was over, this was slipped back of the glass to make a
very handsome personal reminder of that happy occasion.

A good rule of thumb when
cleaning vinyl floors: use the
least harsh method necessary to
restore an attractive appearance.
In other words, don’t wash when
a damp mopping will do the job.
And don’t damp mop when dry
mopping, vacuuming or
sweeping will suffice.
