Donnie Robison
Player Os Week
Donnie Robison, who pitched
two touchdown passes and led
the Griffin Eagles on a game
winning TD march late in the
fourth, was selected today as
Griffin’s Player Os The Week.
Donnie, the Eagles’ senior
quarterback, pitched a seven
yard scoring strike to William
Nelms early in the fourth quar
ter to put the Eagles ahead of
Clarkston, 10-7.
However, Clarkston regained
the lead, 14-10, in the fourth
quarter after recovering a
fumble and punching the ball
over from four yards out.
That TD set the stage for one
of the finest comebacks seen at
Memorial Stadium.
After Mark Griffin returned
the kickoff to the Griffin 35, the
Eagles began a 65 yard march
that ended in the Clarkston end
zone with just 55 seconds left to
Play.

Donnie Robison
“Robison was cool,” Coach
Max Dowis said this morning.
“He showed a lot of leadership
while guiding Griffin on the 65
yard drive.”
Robison’s passing highlighted
the march. He completed five of
eight passes for 44 yards. He
came up with key fourth down
competitions twice. The longest
gainer on the drive was a 21
yard pass for Robison to half
back Kenneth Hand. That set up
the score at the Clarkston four.
Rickey Clark gained one yard
and Larry Chambers scored the
winning TD from the three.
The Clarkston coach said af
ter the game that Robison’s
passing made the difference.
“He’s the best passer we’ve
faced.”

“We didn’t hit a lick yes

did was run and do some mental
work.”
“The practice was terrible.
But that’s the way most Monday
practices are.
“Our injuries do not seem
serious. They’re just aggrava

Two players are nursing sore
ankles and two more are sick.
The Eagles looked at the film

Clarkston yesterday and will

Coach Dowis calls Lee “a
good, sound team.”
“They are good on offense,
and outstanding on defense,” he
said.

Coach Dowis calls Gary Paul,
Lee’s fullback, “the finest
runner I’ve seen.”
“Rusty Dean, their quarter
back, is a good passer. He’s real
dangerous on the long ball. He
runs the option well.
“Paul and Dean seem to be
the key to their offense,” the
coach said.
Craig Bozeman, one of
Griffin’s finest players, is ex
pected to play against Lee.
“Craig practiced yesterday.
Although he’s still recovering
from a bad back, he’ll probably
play in spots against Lee,”
Coach Dowis said.
