Scientists say points in the

Millions of Americans, plus

by the moon passing in front of
the sun, is due to begin at 1:20

The moon’s shadow will first
darken the continent in Mexico,
then will cross the Gulf of Mex
ico and reach into the United
States at Appalachicola on the
Florida Coast.
Valdosta, Ga., will be the
first sizeable city to go com
pletely dark. Then the shadow
will move up to the coastal city
of Savannah, then on to Charles
ton, S. C., and up the North
Carolina coast to Norfolk, Va.
from there, the eclipse is
expected to pass over the At
lantic and totally darken Nan

and the southern tip sandbar off
Cape Cod.
