IT IS THE CONTENTION of a matrimonial counselor that
only one husband in 10 remains faithful. That’s too cynical an
estimate.. . . RARE IS THE WOMAN and remarkable who
knows when to stop cooking cabbage. .. . ALTHOUGH
THERE are 11 alleged Jesse James caves, history records that
the outlaw Jesse James never hid in a cave, never
ever. . . . FLIP WILSON is the cagiest comic on TV now, I
think. ... YOUNG LADY, THE ODDS run approximately
140,000 to one that you will not marry your teacher. What,
you say that’s good news?
PERSONAL NOTE -- So tomorrow the ladyfriend and I
will jump on a jet and go west. Goodbye, New York City. No,
we’re not disgruntled. Not with delicatessens, not with dog
sign in doorways. Nor, as the fellow said, are we altogether
gruntled. But it is time to see Seattle again, and to visit San
Francisco, and to pay long call on Los Angeles, where our
mission will be to check out the talent and get sunburnt. Swift
is the flight, but slow that languor by the surf. If you do not
hear from us within a reasonable time, please send a lifeguard.
OPEN QUESTION - Why do people with flat feet tend to
perspire excessively?
THE HAIR TINT makers won’t publish the report, but
their researchers have discovered that American men prefer
brunettes six to one over redheads. .. “WHAT DID THE
FIRST Greyhound bus look like?” inquires a client. That was
a seven-passenger Hupmobile. On a run in 1914 between
Hibbing and Alice in Minnesota.
CONTRARY to popular belief: 1. A martini is no stronger
than any other drink the same size, shape, weight and velocity.
2. Lightning does indeed strike more than once in the same
place, and quite naturally so. 3. Mice don’t much care for
cheese. Incidentally, in the matter of the mice, do you know
what makes good bait for a mousetrap? Cotton batting. Mice
make mattresses out of it.
CUSTOMER SERVICE - Q. “Do dogs ever dig up the
bones they bury?” A. Rarely. ... Q. “WHEN I PUT money
into a bank account, who owns the money, me or the bank?”
A. The bank. . .. Q. “WHAT AFRICAN ANIMAL kills the
most people?” A. The crocodile... .Q. “ISN’T DURWARD
KIRBY ranked as one of the 10 most popular announcers in
the country?” A. He was.
LOVE AND WAR - Won’t ask you what you and your
matrimonial mate quarrel about most, if quarrel you do, ever.
Too personal a thing. Still, you might check your own recprd
privately against the experts’ list. In order, these are said to be
the five commonest topics in marital dispute: 1. Money. 2.
Flirting. 3. Work. 4. In-laws. 5. Drinking.

Today
By United Press International
Today is Tuesday, March 3,
the 62nd day of 1970 with 303 to
follow.
The moon is approaching its
new phase.
The morning stars are
Mercury and Jupiter.
The evening stars are Venus,
Mars and Saturn.
On this day in history:
In 1849 the U.S. Department
of the Interior was created by
an act of Congress.
In 1879 a woman lawyer
practiced before the U.S.
Supreme Court for the first
time. She was Mrs. Belva Ann
Lockwood.
In 1931 the Star Spangled
Banner was designated by an
act of Congress as the
“National Anthem of the United
States.”
In 1945 German flying bombs
were sent against the British
Isles for the first time since the
previous autumn. World War II
was drawing to a close in
Europe.
A thought for the day:
Salmon Portland Chase said,
“The only way of resumption is
to resume.”

Interesting
days lie ahead
The U. S. Supreme Court has settled the
question of whether Gov. Lester Maddox
can run again this year to succeed himself.
The court ruled he couldn't.
The decision will be denounced by some
and prasied by others.
But at least it took that question out of
the campaign and Georgia voters will not
have to muddle along this spring and sum
mer with this cloud of uncertainty over
them.
When Gov. Maddox first indicated he
would seek to overturn the Georgia Ia w
against governor's seeking successive
terms. Many political leaders said that the
question should be settled quickly so the
campaigns would not be hampered by un
certainty.
The Supreme Court, which was destined
to have the final say, has spoken.
But this leaves open many alternatives.
In Georgia politics anything can happen
and usually does.
Interesting days lie ahead.
Bad manners
hurt us all
President Nixan acted quickly and wisely
in going to New York last night to apolo
gize to French President Georges Pompidou
for the behavior of a few citizens in this
country.
The French leader was here as a guest in
this country and deserved at least treat
ment as such. But the bad manners of a few
demonstrators put a blemish on his visit.
It deserved a presidential apology.
It's time Americans got themselves off
together in a backroom and gave them
selves a good lecture on good manners.
They never go out of style, no matter
what the age or cause.

MY
ANSWER,JR
Little Doggie
I am a little girl 8 years old,
and my little doggie died. What
I want to know is: will I ever see
my doggie again in heaven?
B.L.
I don’t find any Bible verses
that say our little pets will or
won’t be in heaven. But, I know
this: if it is necessary that your
doggie be there, for you to be
perfectly happy, I’m sure he
will be.
The Bible tells us that heaven
is a wonderful place. All the
things that make us sad on
earth will be taken away. There
will not be any tears. No one will
ever die again. There will be no
sorrow, no crying, and no pain.
Toothaches, tummyaches, and
all the other things that trouble
little children will be no more.
The Bible puts it this way:
“And God shall wipe away all
tears from their eyes; and there
shall be no more death; neither
sorrow, nor crying, neither
shall there be any more pain;
for the former things are passed
away.” Revelation 21:4.
If your pet happens not to be
there, I’ll assure you that there
will be so many other thrilling
things that you’ll never miss
him. Jesus will be there. God
will be there. And all the people
who have loved God through the
centuries will be there. And
there will be lots of happy boys
and girls, for God is especially
fond of little folk. You will never
be lonesome, sad, hungry, or
side, and best of all, it will never
end.
