Laugh-In, Bonanza
are slipping a bit
By RICK DUBROW
HOLLYWOOD (UPI) -A
changing of the guard is
obviously taking place among
the top-ranked weekly shows in
the national television ratings,
with such longtime leaders as
“Laugh-In” and “Bonanza”
slipping a good bit.
It is true that this is the rerun
season, and that programs like
“Bonanza” undoubtedly would
do better in their first
showings. On the other hand,
other weekly series that did
well in their initial outings —for
example, “Ironside” and “Man
nix” —continue to hold up
steadily, as witness the national
ratings for the seven days
ending May 23.

Cosmonauts perform
scientific chores
MOSCOW (UPl)—Three So
viet Cosmonauts performed
scientific chores ranging from
medical and biological research
to navigation today aboard a
bottle-shaped space laboratory
the size of a railroad car.
“The first Cosmodom (space
house) has been founded,”
Beyelorussian physicist Nikolai
Sirota told the Tass news
agency in praising the Salyut
orbital scientific station.
Lt. Col. Georgi Dobrovolsky
and engineers Vladislav Volkov
and Viktor Patsayev docked
their Soyuz 11 spaceship with
Salyut Monday and crawled
into it through a connecting
tunnel.
“The laboratory has begun its
program of scientific re
search,” Tass said. Konstantin
Feoktistov, a scientist-cosmon
aut who was not aboard the
latest Soviet space mission, told
the Communist party newspa
per Pravda the spaceship was
equipped with facilities for
medico-biological research and
“more basic onboard equipment
to make the station function.”
Tass said the program
aboard the space ship included
tests of Salyut’s systems,

“We are operating 33 tele

said two additional telephone
taps were waiting to be
installed.
He said 14 telephone taps and
two microphone surveillances
were being used for investiga

that an additional 12 telephone
taps were waiting to be
installed. Hoover said his
request for an additional 45
telephone surveillances was
being considered by the attor

the electronic surveillances.
Court orders also were obtained
for the eavesdropping on

The Soyuz-Salyut station orbit
ranged from 132 to 155 miles,

Scientific sources have said
more ships and men may join
