SALT MINE AS DUMP
WASHINGTON (UPI)-The
House has voted to authorize
$3.5 million for the purchase of
an abandoned salt mine near
Lyons, Kan., for use as a dump
for nuclear wastes.
Kansas congressmen had
opposed the move, asking for a
delay until safety studies have

Pageant at Palmyra
A spectacular attraction of the summer season is the
Mormon Pageant on Hill Cumorah near Palmvra, N.Y.,
an annual event since 1937 which draws upwards of
100.000 visitors from throughout the nation. Scheduled
this year July 26-31, the pageant recreates on 25 stages
over an area larger than a football field the Mormon
story of the destruction of an ancient American civili
zation.
