China vote Monday stating its
financial position, King said.
The U.S. government con
tributes 31.52 per cent of the
U.N. budget, or an estimated
$215 million for 1972.
The United Nations voted 76-
35 with 17 abstentions late
Monday to expel Nationalist
China, one of the founders and
charter members of the world
body, and seat Peking in its
place. The United States
actively had sought to keep the
Taiwan government in while
seating the People’s Republic of
China.
Secretary General Thant,
meanwhile, cabled Peking for
the second time Wednesday,
but there still was no official
word on when the Communists
would arrive to take their seat.
Unofficial sources indicated it
might be this weekend.

It did not specify what they
