and Transport Battalion of the
Ist Infantry Division at Fort
Riley, Kan. Pfc. Barkley’s wife,
Jana, lives at 507 East Solomon

street, Griffin, recently com
pleted an eight-week wheel
vehicle mechanic course at the
U.S. Army Training Center,
Infantry, Fort Polk, La. His
wife, Brenda, lives on Route
one, Brooks.
JOEL D. WRIGHT
Airman Joel D. Wright, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A.
Wright of Barnesville, has
completed basic training at
Lackland AFB, Tex. He has
been assigned to Goodfellow
AFB, Tex., for training as a
communications analysis
specialist. Airman Wright is a
1971 graduate of Lamar County
High School.

L. Price, son of Otis J. Price of
811 East Solomon street, was
promoted to his present rank
while serving with the Third
Marine Division, Okinawa.

Jack Tschudy, Jr., whose father
lives on Route one, Barnesville,
is serving with the 101st Air
borne Division in Vietnam. He
is in charge of the Armament
room with Headquarters Co.,

Coast Guard Petty Officer
First Class Frank W. Gibson,
husband of the former Miss
Helen K. Dunlap of Locust
Grove, is visiting the Russian
port of Nakodka, on the sea of
Japan near Vladivostok, aboard
the Coast Guard Icebreaker
Glacier. Glacier’s visit, which
ended Oct. 22, marks the first
time a Coast Guard Cutter has
called at a far eastern Russian
port since World War 11. Glacier
is currently engaged in
oceanographic and ecological
research in the Northern
Pacific and is scheduled to visit
Saebo, Kur and Hokosuka,
Japan before returning to Long
Beach via Honolulu.

Richard H. Greene, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Bernard J. Greene, of
Route two, Hampton, has
reported to the Marine Corps
Helicopter Air Station in
Jacksonville, N.C., for duty
with Headquarters and
Maintenance Squadron 26.

Coggins, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charlie Coggins, 823 Wall
street, Griffin, participating
with more than 11,000 troops in
exercise reforger 111 in Ger
many. He is assigned to
Company A, Ist Supply and
Transport Battalion of the Ist
Infantry Division at Fort Riley,
Kan.

JAMES D. LESTER, JR.
James D. Lester, Jr., son of
the Rev. and Mrs. James
Lester, Sr., of Zebulon, and
husband of the former Linda
Smith, has completed advanced
training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
He has been reassigned for duty
in Coppingen, Germany. Mrs.
Lester will join him at a later
date.
JAMES E.STROZIER
James E. Strozier, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Willie J. Ector of 412
North Fourth street, received
his honorable discharge from
the Armed Forces Sept. 1971,
after serving in Furth, Ger
many for 10 months, and six
months at Fort McPherson. He
was inducted into the service
Nov., 1969 and received his
basic training at Fort Jackson,
S.C., and advanced training at
Fort Leonardwood, Mo.
Strozier is presently attending
Fort Valley State College.
