groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Matthew Henry Wagner of
Rome, Ga.
Mr. Wayne Buffington of
Zebulon, organist, presented a

Thou Goest” preceding the
ceremony and “The Lord’s
Prayer”.
The church altar was
decorated with magnolia
boughs along the entire length
of the choir rail. Placed in the
choir loft, the focal point was a
large Williamsburg arrange
ment of white gladioli, snap
dragons, Fuji mums and poms
with touches of yellow provided
by yellow snapdragons and
poms.
Three standing seven-branch
candelabra, holding white
burning tapers, were recessed
behind it forming an arch above
the central floral arrangement.
White burning tapers in two
white spiral candelabra
trimmed in gold flanked the
white satin covered prayer
bench in the center, upon which
the couple knelt for the wedding
prayers. On a pedestal behind
and to one side of the prayer
bench a silver candelabra held
three white tapers. After the
vows were exchanged, while

ture daisy-like flowers complete
with tiny green stems and

yellow hair braid trimmed with
the yellow flocked voile bands
and bows were worn. Each wore
white gloves and carried a nose

the lace motifs accented the
waistline in the back.
Her headpiece was a chapel

comb. The veil was edged
around the entire length with
matching reembroidered
scalloped chantilly lace, being
semi-circular at the lower end.
Floral motifs cut from the lace
were hand appliqued
throughout the veil, which was
also styled by the bride and her
mother.
The bride carried a white
satin and lace covered Bible, a
gift of Mrs. Reese Colbert John
son of Zebulon, upon which was
mounted a white cascade
bouquet of French carnations
and stephanotis, featuring a
white hybrid orchid corsage.
She wore a heart-shaped gold
locket with a diamond, a gift
from the groom. She also
carried a white linen and lace
handkerchief which belonged to
her mother.
Mrs. English chose for her
daughter’s wedding, a turquoise
blue street length A-line dress of
crepon crepe with pearl trim at
the high round neckline. The
back was accented with an
empire belt. Her hat with veil
was of the same material. She
wore matching shoes and white
gloves. Her corsage was two
white cymbidium orchids.
Mrs. Wagner selected a pink
knit A-line dress with which she
wore matching shoes and hat
with white gloves. Her corsage
was two white cymbidium
orchids.

shirred ribbon icing and
decorated with large and small
handmade pale yellow roses
with green leaves and white
sugar bells. Each of the three
bottom layers were separated
from the others with four
Grecian columns and accented
with liles of the valley. The top
two layers supported a white
satin bell cluster arrangement
tied with white tulle and set
against a pearlescent heart
surrounded by exquisite little
hearts of tiny simulated seed
pearls on a base of pearlized
chantilly lace hearts. Miss
Delinda Harden of Macon and
Mrs. Kenneth Walker of Athens
served the cake.
The punch table was covered
with a floor length yellow cloth
centered with a large yellow
and white arrangement of snap
dragons, chrysanthemums,
white fuji mums and baby’s
breath. Punch was served from
a large crystal punch bowl with
two silver ladles placed on one
end. Frest fruit surrounded the
bowl. At the other end a silver
candela bra held white burning
candles. Crystal and silver
compotes held peanuts and
pecan halves. Round and heart
diaped handmade and decorat

were served. Miss Ann Pitts of
Griffin and Mrs. John Strick
land of Concord served the
punch.
The groom’s table was cover
ed with a gold linen and lace
