Post Office
lobby closed
Saturday
The box lobby of the Griffin
Post Office will be closed from
10 a.m. Saturday through
Sunday or until construction
work is completed on a
renovation project, according to
G. H. Prothro, officer in charge.
“The closing will be
necessary in order that we may
finish the installation of our new
lockboxes, etc. It is possible
that the work may be completed
early, in which case the lobby
will be reopened. In no case,
will it be closed past Sunday,”
Prothro said.
The new boxes will be
available for use Monday, Nov.
20.
Keys for the new boxes will be
distributed to the present box
holders between now and Satur
day, Prothro continued.
They will be needed in order
to obtain mail on Monday, he
said. Old keys may be turned in
Monday. Any boxholder
desiring extra keys may obtain
them at any time after Monday.
“I would like to express our
appreciation to the people of
Griffin and Spalding County for
their patience and indulgance
during our period of remodel
ing. In spite of numerous
rumors, no one’s box number
has been changed. As soon as
the changeover is completed for
the present boxholders, we will
begin assignment of boxes to
others who have filed applica
tions. Applications will be
processed in sequence as they
are received, with customer
need being one of the deter
mining factors,” Prothro
stated.

was treated by a local
physician.
Lawmen here earlier had said
that she waited for several
hours, as none of the Griffin
