Thornton of Jackson announce
the engagement and forth
coming marriage of their
daughter, Miss Linda Carol
Thornton, to Mr. Richard S.
Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.
T. Mitchell of Jackson.
Miss Thornton graduated
from Lamar County High
School in 1972 and attended
Griffin Tech. She is presently
employed by Jim Pridgen
Hardware.
Mr. Mitchell attended Druid
Hills High School and is
presently employed by General
Motors in Atlanta.
The wedding will be Decem
ber 1 at 7 o’clock at Pleasant
Hill Methodist Church. No in
vitations will be sent but all
friends and relatives are invited
to attend.

group of Teamon Baptist
Church honored Mrs. Roy
Miller with a stork shower in the
educational building Tuesday
evening. Mrs. Ralph True had
charge of the games. Punch,
cake, nuts and mints were
served to the 29 adults present.
Mrs. Robert Deason is
president of the BYW.
The Day group of Teamon
WMU met with Mrs. Joel Carter
Tuesday morning. Mrs. Carter,
Mrs. Gibbie Boggus and Mrs.
Charles Scott discussed the
study topic, “Ivory Coast”.
Mrs. Gordon Milling was
program chairman and in
troduced the speaker.
Mrs. James Dunaway an
nounced plans for a Christmas
luncheon.
Mrs. Clifford Seay arranged
the flowers for the dining table.
Twenty-one members were
present.

Mrs. Janice Boyd, extension
home economist, was the
speaker at the November
meeting of the ABC-Ettes. She
gave a program on Christmas
ideas.
A collection of handmade
decorations was on display.
Mrs. Bill Wood, program
chairman, introduced the
speaker.
The meeting was held at the
home of Mrs. Genie Johnson.
Mrs. Thomas Lane and Mrs.
Edwin Whatley were co
hostesses. A dessert course was
served during the social period.
Mrs. Johnson, president,
presided. Mrs. Ray Sharpe,
community projects chairman,
announced that the candy sale
at the fair was a success. The
members voted to donate the
proceeds to the building fund for
the gymnasium at Patrick
Park.
The members will make their
monthly visit and carry gifts to
the patients in the east wing of
the Living Center. Pictures of
the patients will be taken,
framed and presented to them
at the Christmas season.
Cookbooks, containing
favorite recipes of the mem
bers, are on sale by the ABC-
Ettes.
The December meeting will
be a Christmas party with
husbands as invited guests.

James Moore.
Miss Peek is the grand
daughter of the Rev. and Mrs.
Hoyt S. McGhee and Mr.
George Luther Peek and the
late Mrs. Kate Lee Peek.
She is a graduate of Griffin
High School with the class of ’72.
Miss Peek is presently em
ployed with K-Way of Griffin.
Mr. Moore is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. William
Moore and Mrs. W. C. Martin
and the late Mr. J. W. Rickman.
He graduated from Griffin
High School with the class of ’72
and is presently employed with
Thomaston Mills of Griffin.
