The Flint River Regional
Library will give away 500
Christmas kits to the public to
mark the library’s celebration
of the Holiday Season.
Each kit will contain a 50-
page “Books for Christmas”
catalogue which will contain
lundreds of books, many of
which will be available at the
Griffin library.
In addition to the catalogue, a
special patron survey form will
be included in each kit for
library users to express their
preference in reading material.
The reader survey will be
used to guide library personnel
in selecting additional books for
the library’s collection.
Starred titles in the full color
Christmas catalogue will in
dicate those books already on
the library shelves.
The catalogue will provide
information regarding price
and publisher for all volumns.
Anyone who would like a
Christmas kit should contact
Mrs. Martha Donaldson at the
Flint River Regional Library.
Marijuana
found
on campus
Three ninth graders at
Spalding Junior High One were
arrested Friday afternoon at
the school and charged with
violation of the Georgia Drug
Abuse Control Act.
Police said the boys, two of
whom are 14 and other 15-
years-old, were turned over to
juvenile authorities and their
cases will be handled in juvenile
court.
One of the boys had sold the
others some marijuana. The
youth who sold the marijuana
showed the officers where he
had hidden it on the north side of
the football field.
Around two ounces of
marijuana was confiscated.

Burglaries
are cleared
Two other burglaries were
cleared with the arrest of two
men who were caught in the act
of burglarizing the Moose Club.
The Spalding Sheriff’s
Department said that the
arrests of William Steven Hurt,
20, and Mark David Carns, 18,
have cleared other break-ins at
Beaverbrook Elementary
School and Griffin Industries.
The suspects were arrested as
they ran from the rear of the
Moose Club about 4 a.m.
Friday.
They remained in the
Spalding jail this morning.

Youth sprayed
with buckshot
A 15-year-old bystander
escaped serious injury last
night when he was sprayed with
buckshot during a fight between
two men on Lincoln road.
Horace Passmore of 1316
Lincoln road was hit in the face
and upper body but was not
thought to be seriously injured.
Police said he was watching an
argument between two men,
when one fired a shotgun and
some of the buckshot hit the
youth.
Police said no arrests have
been made.
The incident happened
around 6:15 p.m.
