Mr. Murphy
Funeral services for Mr.
Charlie Murphy, 84, of 834
Brooker street, Griffin, will be
held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the
Spring HUI Baptist Church with
the Rev. J. W. Bloodsaw of
ficiating. Burial will be in the
Mt. Zion cemetery, Zetella, Ga.
Survivors include his widow,
Mrs. Nancy Mae Murphy and
several nieces and nephews.
The body will lie in state at
the church from noon until the
hour of service.
The cortege will form at the
residence at noon.
McDowell United Funeral

ments.

Funeral services for Mrs.
Lucy Mae Copeland, 83, of
Route one, Shiloh, Ga., wUI be
held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the
Bethlehem Baptist Church,
Shiloh, with the Rev. G. H.
Henry officiating. Burial will be
in the church cemetery.
Survivors include five
daughters, Mrs. Cary Mae
Copeland of Philadelphia,
Penn., Mrs. Lee Dora Walton
and Mrs. Lizzie Kate Walton,
both of ShUoh, Mrs. Johnnie
Mae Hixon of Warm Springs,
and Mrs. Jimmie Mae Brown of
Hanes City, Fla.; one son, King
Copeland; one sister, Mrs.
Leola WUliams of Columbus,
Ga.; one brother, Robert H.
Cod? of Birmingham, Ala.; 15
grandchildren and 10 great
grandchUdren.
The cortege will form at the
residence at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Union Society Funeral Home
of Concord is in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. Steele
Mrs. Susie Kennedy Steele of
Birdie, widow of Mr. Carl
Steele, died suddenly Friday
night at her home.
She was born in Henry County
and had made her home in
Spalding County for 65 years.
Mrs. Steele was a member of
the County Line United
Methodist Church.
Survivors include two
daughters, Mrs. Elmo- Johnson
of Hampton and Mrs. WUliam
W. Wesley Jr. of Griffin; a son,
Edison Steele of Griffin; a
sister, Mrs. Emma Floyd of
Jonesboro; seven grand
children; four great grand
children.
Funeral services wUI be held
Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock
from the County Line United
Methodist Church at Birdie. The
Rev. Sydney W. Whiteman will
officiate. Burial will be in the
church cemetery.
The body will remain at
Pittman-Rawls Funeral Home
until carried to the church to lie
in state from 1:30 to the funeral
hour.
Friends may visit the family
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
WUliam W. Wesley Jr. on the
Vaughn school road.

Funeral services for Mr.
William JeweU Banks were
conducted this afternoon at 2
o’clock in McDonald Chapel.
The Rev. AUen Huckaby and the
Rev. Bob Combs officiated.
Burial was in Oak Hill
cemetery.
McDonald Chapel was in
charge of arrangements.

The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
A. Varnadore Sr. of Griffin and
the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Jones of Senoia.
Miss Jones is a 1970 graduate
of Griffin High School and is
presently employed by
American Finance System in
Griffin.
Mr. Stinchcomb is the grand
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Nick Sells of Winder, Ga. and
the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
Stinchcomb of Fayetteville.

celebrated her eighth birthday

calls parents
from Vietnam
Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Bryans of
Griffin had one of the best
Christmas presents they could
have —a telephone call from
their son who is serving in
Vietnam with the U. S. Army.
Sp. 5 Charles M. (Mike)
Bryans, 23, who has been in
Vietnam six months telephoned
his parents to say he was well
and all right and to wish them a
Merry Christmas.
Sp. 5 Bryans has been in the
army a year and a half.
His parents were not ex
pecting his call.
They said it was relayed by
radio through Ft. Knox, Ky.

Park and a 1971 graduate of the
University of Georgia with a BS
degree in Chemistry. Mr.
Stinchcomb is employed with
the Food Science Department of
the Georgia Experiment Station
in Experiment.
The wedding will be January
13 at 7:30 at the Faith Baptist
Church in Griffin. No in
vitations will be sent but all
friends and relatives are invited
to attend.

The December meeting of the
Camellia Garden Club was held
at the home of Mrs. L. C. Olson.

The Christmas theme was
carried out in the decorations.
