sister of the groom.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father. Her
bridal gown was an Illissa
model, fashioned of candlelight
peau de soie. The fitted bodice,
with traditional high neckline
and long fitted sleeves, was
trimmed with chantilly lace and
reembroidered in seed pearls
and crystal beads. The skirt
was a slenderizing A line with
detachable cathedral train. The
skirt and train were bordered
with wide inserts of reem
broidered chantilly lace,
matching the design of the
bodice. The bridal veil, an
original silk point lace Spanish
mantilla, was embroidered in
an overall floral rose design
finished in a scalloped edge and
was attached to a camelot
crown. In her shoe was the
traditional good luck six pence,
a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
H. Brannon Jr. The bride’s
bouquet was of white roses,
baby’s breath and showers of
white ribbons with clusters of
lily of the valley.
Following the wedding a
champagne buffet was served
at the University Club in
Tampa.
The bride’s table was
decorated with tall silver
candelabra with bouquets of
yellow roses showering from
the candelabra. The table was
centered with the tiered wed
ding cake.
After a wedding trip to Italy
visiting Rome, Florence and
Sorrento, the couple will reside
in Atlanta. For traveling the
bride wore a navy silk jersey
with a brightly colored floral
print pattern dress and a
matching fitted short jacket.
She wore matching accessories.
Mr. Brannon is employed
with Cunningham Arts and
Crafts in Atlanta.

The monthly meeting of the
Senior Citizens was held at the
Woman’s Clubhouse. A flower
show was given by the members
and prizes were awarded.
A movie on “Tulips of
Holland” was shown.

solemnized Saturday, August
11, at 4 p.m. at the Ousley
Methodist Church in Decatur.
The Rev. George 0. Greene Sr.
performed the double ring cere
mony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. James E. Rice of
Decatur. The groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Charles
Brookshire of Decatur. He is the
grandson of Mrs. Samuel Ellis
Jones of Griffin.
Mr. Harold Sills sang “There
Is Love” and “We’ve Only Just
Begun”.

Following the wedding a
reception was held in the fellow
ship hall of the church.
After a wedding trip to Jekyll
Island, the couple will reside in
Decatur. The groom is an
electrician with Nash
Associates of Snellville, Ga.
Jill Pitts
celebrates
9th birthday
Jill Pitts, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Billy E. Pitts, celebrated
her ninth birthday with a tacky
party given at her home on
Lakeside drive.
A weiner roast, cake, ice
cream and soft drinks were
served to the guests present.
A prize was given to the
tackiest dressed boy and girl
present. Winner of the girl’s
prize was Julie Pitts and winner
of the boy’s was Ken Hollings
worth.
A goody bag was given to
each guest.
