Fugitives captured while asleep

Two fugitives who shot then

deputy said the fugitives, John
Morgan, 37, and William
Winans, 18, wanted on murder,
burglary and jail break char
ges, shot their way out of the
Wadena County Jail Monday,
seized the farm home of Elmer
Wegscheid Tuesday and held
the family hostage until their
escape early today.
The fugitives, apparently
suffering from lack of sleep,
dozed off about 4:30 a.m. and
the Wegscheid family made a
run for safety. The deputy said

board held a prayer supper at
Martha’s Restaurant with 39
people in attendance.
The devotional was given on
“Faithfulness” by Mrs.
Margaret Boggs. A short
business session was held with
the chairman of the board,
Edwin S. Griffin, presiding. It
was voted that the prayer
supper be held the first
Saturday night of every month
at 6 p.m. at Martha’s
Restaurant.
Billy Wesley and the Rev.
Eugene Walton closed the
meeting with prayer.

teville, Kincaid Memorial
United Methodist, Pomona

children Wednesday after meet
ing with law enforcement

meet the fugitives demands for
an airplane, two parachutes,
two tents, two football helmets
and first aid equipment, and
even brought a second Cessna

late Wednesday night, Morgan

A student who left her purse
and books in her car at the
Griffin High lot yesterday af

She was identified as Debra
