graduated at Sheppard AFB,
Tex., from the U. S. Air Force
medical services specialist
course conducted by the Air
Training Command. The air
man, who was trained to assist
in the care and treatment of
patients, is being assigned to
Keesler AFB, Miss.

U. S. Air Force Sergeant
Jerry M. Cook, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert B. Cook of Stock
bridge, has arrived for duty at
Kunsan AB, Republic of Korea,
Sgt. Cook, a fuel specialist, is
assigned to a unit of the Pacific
Air Forces. He previously
served at March AFB, Calif.

Second Lieutenant Jackson
W. Landham 111, 24, whose
parents live in Griffin, received
a parachutist badge upon
completion of the three-week
airborne course at the U. S.
Army Infantry School, Fort
Benning.
FITZ-W. B. TAYLOR 111
Army Private Fitz-William B.
Taylor 111, 17, whose parents
live in McDonough, completed
eight weeks of basic training at
Fort Jackson, S. C.
RANDALL C. HARRIS
Army Second Lieutenant
Randall C. Harris, 22, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward 0. Harris of
Griffin, is assigned to the 2nd
Armored Division at Fort Hood,
Tex. Lt. Harris is a forward
observer in Battery B, Ist
Battalion of the Division’s 3rd
Field Artillery.
DONALD COCHRAN
U. S. Air Force Master
Sergeant Donald J. Cochran,
son of Joseph L. Cochran of
Griffin, has received the
Meritorious Service medal at
Randolph AFB, Tex. Sgt.
Cochran, a personnel
superintendent, was cited for
his outstanding duty per
formance at Eielson AFB,
Alaska. He is now serving at
Randolph with the 3300th
Support Squadron of the Air
Training Command. His wife,
Griffinite
to co-ordinate
Dr. Terry H. Wynne of Griffin
has been appointed to serve as
co-ordinator for this area for the
51st Annual Southern
Educational Congress of Op
tometry, February 15-19 at the
Marriott Motor Hotel in
Atlanta.
In this capacity the local
optometrist will serve as an
advisor and as liason with the
Southern Council of Op
tometrists, sponsor of the event
which is expected to attract
some 3,000 registrations from
40-odd states.
The program will feature
some 114 hours of lectures, on
such topics as contact lenses,
children’s vision, and ocular
pathology. The Congress will
also include some 190 exhibits.
Barbara, is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Wesley Brannon of
Milner.
SIDNEY PEACH
U. S. Air Force Senior Master
Sergeant Sidney E. Peach has
arrived for duty at Korat Royal
Thai AFB, Thailand. The
sergeant is assigned to a unit of
the Pacific Air Forces as a jet
engine superintendent. He
previously served at Tyndall
AFB, Fla. His wife, Alice, is the
daughter of Mrs. Stewart
Pierce of Griffin.
ROGER BERGELEEN
Airman Roger A. Bergeleen,
son of retired U. S. Army
Sergeant and Mrs. George R.
Bergeleen of McDonough, has
graduated at Lackland AFB,
Tex., from the U. S. Air Force
security policeman course
conducted by the Air Training
Command. The airman, who
was trained in security and law
enforcement, is remaining at
lackland for further training.
RICKEY PIERCY
Navy Seaman Recruit Rickey
Piercy, son of Mrs. Jeanell
Piercy of Griffin, returned to
his homeport at Norfolk, Va., on
board the attack aircraft
carrier USS John F. Kennedy
after a seven month
deployment. During the cruise
he participated in training
exercises from the
Mediterranean to the Arctic
Circle. Port visits included a
stop in Edinburgh, Scotland.
