DEAR POLLY — To eliminate

DEAR POLLY — I keep small,
round ash trays inside of each of
my living room ash trays. If unex
pected guests arrive, it’s easy to
whisk the small trays out of sight
and have nice, clean big ones. -
GRACE.

DEAR POLLY — When mopping
floors I found it hard to get dirt out
of the corners till I started using a
damp cotton sqab. It gets the dirt
out of even the tiniest corners. —
PATTY.
•
DEAR POLLY — If I have a quantity
of fruits or vegetables in my
refrigerator bin, I put one of each
thing on a refrigerator shelf to re
mind me there’s more on hand. This
saves me from letting the food
spoil. — MRS. J.M.
DEAR POLLY — When raking
last fall’s leaves place your leaf
bag inside a garbage can. This
makes a great holder for keeping
the bag up and open. — BILL.
•
DEAR POLLY — When using your
kitchen stool for outside jobs it is
very helpful to slip plastic bags
over the legs. Fasten them with
tape or rubber bands. There will be
no muddy legs to clean. - SUSAN.

DEAR POLLY — I have used many
of the Pointers and would now like
to pass along one of mine. When
clothing is quite soiled from grease
and has a strong odor, put some
after-shave lotion or toilet water in
the rinse water and it will eliminate
much of the odor. — Mrs. J.S.
(Polly's note — Put either of these
into the water alone so no drops fall
on the clothes.)

DEAR POLLY — Here’s a clip-and
save pointer. Last winter, my
mother suggested that we put a
sheet of heavy brown paper bet
ween the blankets as this would
help keep a person very warm.
Newspapers are a help, too, if
brown paper is not available. —
MRS. E.P.H.
DEAR POLLY — When my mom
leaves wash-and-wear things in
the dryer too long she hangs them
on hangers, sprays starch on the
wrinkles and they come out. This is
very good on double knits. -
