guest choir
The First Baptist Church
young adult choir of Huntsville,
Ala., and the Rev. Horace N.
Snodgrass, pastor of the church,
will present a special worship
service at the Mt. Zion Baptist
Church Sunday morning, Sept.
22.
The choir is under the direc
tion of Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland
Wilson. This special service is
being sponsored by the Baptist
Training Union under the direc
tion of Mrs. E. R. Stinson.
The Rev. 0. H. Stinson is
pastor of Mt. Zion.

Mr. Pritchard
Mr. Jefferson Davis Prit
chard of 222 West Vineyard road
died at noon Thursday at the
Griffin-Spalding Hospital.
Mr. Pritchard was bom in
Whitfield County and had made
his home in Griffin for 58 years.
He was a retired employe of
Griffin Division, Thomaston
Mills.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Leia Dorrough Pritchard;
a daughter, Mrs. Jackie Mae
Henson of Zebulon; five sons,
James Pritchard of Savannah,
Ronald Pritchard, Barney
Pritchard, both of Atlanta,
Gusty Pritchard of Sunny Side
and Wayne Pritchard of Macon;
five sisters, Mrs. Edna Boyn
ton, Mrs. Mabel Jones, Mrs.
Betty Toland, all of Griffin,
Mrs. Gussie Greer of Daytona
Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Margie
Richardson of Atlanta; three
brothers, J. T. Pritchard, J. B.
Pritchard and Roy Pritchard,
all of Griffin; three step
daughters, Mrs. Ann Kent, Mrs.
Jean Pritchard, both of
Savannah and Mrs. Donna
Ballew of Eatonton; two
stepsons, Edsel Dorrough and
Johnny Dorrough, both of
Griffin.
Funeral services will be
conducted Saturday afternoon
at 2:30 o’clock in McDonald
Chapel. The Rev. Mark G.
Summers will officiate and
burial will be in Oak Hill
cemetery. The body will remain
at the funeral home.
Mower stolen
The Spalding Sheriff’s De
partment investigated a
burglary at the home of David
O’Neal on Ga. 16 East yester
day.
Mr. O’Neal complained that
someone stole a lawn mower
and several articles of clothing
from his residence. Their total
value was around S3OO.

Church will sponsor a com
munity wide gospel singing
beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday
night. Special groups from the
Griffin area, Upson, Pike and
Henry County areas will be
featured.

Honored
Horace Gibson, member of the
Griffin Moose Lodge, has been
named top new member
recuriter in the nation for the
second consecutive year. He
will be honored here next month
when the Georgia Moose
Association holds a state
meeting here. He has been a
member of the Griffin Lodge
two and a half years. Since then,
he has sponsored more than 500
candidates for lodge mem
bership. He has been awarded a
life membership in recognition
of his recruitment of new
members. Moose Director
General Herbert Heilman will
pay special tribute to Gibson
here during the Oct. 3-6
meeting.

Club meets
The Zetella Woman’s Club
held its first meeting of the new
club year at the home of Mrs.
Lewis Williams on the Newnan
highway.
Mrs. Lyn Jenkins, president,
presided.
Mrs. Ruth Stringer reminded
members that had not turned in
their money from the bake sale
to do so by the October meeting.
Following the business
session, Mrs. Williams served
refreshments to the 10 members
and six visitors present.
Mrs. Lurleen Clark and Mrs.
Glenda Oakley were welcomed
as new members.
Mrs. Martha O’Quinn won the
door prize. The October meet
ing will be held at the home of
Mrs. Lyn Jenkins.

Mary Elizabeth Sheppard has
been named to Who’s Who in
American High School
Students.
She is the daughter of Mr. and

Hampton Baptist plans revival
Revival services will begin at
the Hampton Baptist Church in
Hampton on Sunday, Sept. 22,
through Friday night. The Rev.
Aaron A. Smith will be the
evangelist.

dean of Luther Rice Seminary
in Jacksonville, Fla.
