DEAR POLLY — Every year our
family makes candles for Christmas.
We use potato chip canisters for
molds. Leave the white ruffled
paper inside the can to make a
pretty candle. You'll have beautiful
candles for gifts or home use. —
KAREN.

DEAR POLLY — When a hot water
bottle is not available, soak a towel
in very hot water, squeeze out and
then fasten towel in a plastic bag.
Wonderful for leg cramps or the
backache! — JO.

DEAR POLLY — I save relish and
peanut butter jars for storing left
overs. They take up much less
space in the refrigerator than bowls
do and can even be stacked!—
LYNDA.
•
DEAR POLLY - I am 14 and have a
Pointer to help other kids with the
problem of storing and sorting dirty
clothes. Tie or sew together the
bottom of the legs of a pair of blue
jeans. On one leg write "Dark,” on
the other “Light.” Hang the jeans on
the closet door. Saves work for
Mom! - K.H.
•
DEAR POLLY — If a drinking glass
has only a hairline crack, put a
piece of tape on the bottom to
identify it and save to use for root
ting house plant clippings. —
CLAUDIA.
DEAR POLLY — I keep a wax pen
cil near my refrigerator and always
date containers of leftovers as well
as writing what is in the container.
The pencil markings wash away so
a container can be used again and
again. — ANNETTE.

DEAR POLLY - Small children
have away of unrolling far too
much toilet tissue. I squeeze a roll
so that a crease is formed in the
cardboard tube before putting the
roll in the dispenser. This prevents
the roll from turning so fast and
tissue is conserved. — DOROTHY.

DEAR POLLY - When mailing
more than one gift in the same box,
mark the number of gifts inside on
the cover of the box so none are
overlooked. — ANN B.
•
DEAR POLLY - Be your own
trash-masher! Two or three
wastebaskets of loose paper can
be mashed into a two-quart milk
carton. These cartons can stand a
lot of pressure. Also, boxes can be
flattened with the feet and several
laid flat in another box for disposal.
- MRS. O.C.Y.
DEAR POLLY — When we moved, I
had a lot of stationery with the old
address on my hands. Printed
labels completely covered the old
address neatly. — ARCHIE.
