In the meantime, Griffin’s
offense was scoring 17 points in
the first and 10 more in the
second.
Griffin rested at intermission
with a 16 point advantage, 27-11.
“Our defense really put the
pressure on them,” Coach
Harvey Oglesby said this
morning.
“That was the difference,” he
added.
Laßita Foster, Debra Cain,
Karen Fennell, Claire Ann
Mankin and Portia Vaughn
played the outstanding defense
that forced Wheeler to change
its style of play. “The girls
boxed them out in the first
half,” Coach Oglesby said.
“We were dragging in the
third period,” the coach said.
Wheeler took advantage of it.
They kept chiping away at our
lead and by the end of the third
had cut it to eight points. Our
lead was down to four points

The Georgia Bulldogs put up a fight last night but in the

Tech
Georgia Tech pulled an upset last night in Atlanta by

have a break-even season with victories in the final two
games. That, however, may prove difficult since the
Jackets meet South Carolina in Columbia and take on
arch-rival Georgia in their final game.
