Japanese compliment
state of Georgia
ATLANTA (UPI) — Before
they bade “sayonara” to
Atlanta, a group of high-level
Japanese businessmen on an
industry-scouting trip had some
complimentary things to say
about the South’s business
climate, and Georgia’s in
particular.
“Our purpose here has been
to meet as many people as
possible,” said Norishige
Hasegawa, leader of the trade
delegation and president of
Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd.
“We note that the southeastern
states in the U.S. are growing
very fast, and we’d like to
know why.”
Hasegawa said Gov. George
Busbee impressed the delega
tion with Georgia’s vocational
training system and assured
them that new industries would
find enough skilled labor.
“This is a very promising
region, inhabited by very
friendly, broad-minded people,”
said Hasegawa.
The visitors were in Houston
before their two-day stop in
Atlanta, which ended Thursday.
Mary Beall Barrow, deceased,
late of said County, are hereby
notified to render in their
claims or demands to the
undersigned Executrix
according to law, and ail
persons indebted to said estate
are required to make
immediate payment to the
undersigned Executrix.

1975.

Busbee and Hasegawa said
no firm plans for specific new
industry for Georgia were
discussed during the delega
tion’s visit, but that the
businessmen were favorably
impressed with Georgia’s eco
nomic growth potential.
During their two days here,
the Japanese delegation heard
businessmen from six states
extoll the tax and labor virtues
of their areas.
Busbee hosted a luncheon for
the delegation and showed them
around the governor’s mansion.
“Times have changed,” said
Busbee. “We are not looking
just to the northern portion of
the United States for industrial
development. We are very
much in competition for inter
national investment and deve
lopment.”
He said a 1969 trade mission
from Japan resulted in invest
ment of about $250 million in
Georgia industrial plants that
now employ 2,500 workers.
