marries Mr. McConnell
Miss Debra Lynn Brown and
Mr. David Eugene McConnell
were united in marriage Satur
day, March 15 at the Parkway
Baptist Church in Auburn,
Alabama. The Rev. Jimmie E.
Knox of New Orleans, La. and
the Rev. Harry A. Stewart of
Auburn, Ala. performed the
double ring ceremony at 10 a.m.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. William T. Brown
of Opelika, Ala. The groom is
the son of Mr. P. E. McConnell,
Jr. of Griffin.
Mr. William Johnson,
organist, and Mr. Claude
Gossett, Jr., soloist, presented a
program of wedding music
including the songs, “Bless This
House” and “The Lord’s
Prayer”.
Mr. P. E. McConnell, Jr.
served as his son’s best man.
Ushers were Mr. Charles E.
McConnell of Griffin, Mr.
Randy Brown of Opelika, Ala.
and Mr. George Mauser of
Wetumpka, Ala.
Miss Donna Tussey of
Auburn, Ala. was maid of
honor. She wore a floor length
dress of pastel blue polyester
crepe with empire waist and
short fitted sleeves. The bodice
and sleeves were covered with
white chantilly lace scalloped
on the sleeves. Her white broad
brim hat was trimmed with a
band of scalloped chantilly lace
matching the dress. She carried
a nosegay of blue iris, peach
anamones, white miniature

The marriage of Betty Dunn
to Joseph Williams was
solemnized recently at the
chapel of Hawkinsville. W. A.
McDuffie performed the double
ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Troy Dunn of
Griffin. The groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson of
Hawkinsville and Mr. Lamar
Williams of Griffin.
Mr. Robert Johnson served as
his son’s best man.
Mrs. Kathy Ussery, daughter
of the bride, yas matron of
honor.

breath and accented with ming
fem and ivy.
Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Ronnie McKinney and Miss
Barbara Calhoun, both of
Opelika, Ala. and Miss Ginger
Clark of Auburn. Their attire
was the same as the maid of
honor except their hats were
blue.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a floor
length gown of chantilly lace
over taffeta. The gown featured
a natural fitted waistline and
fitted sleeves that came to a
point at the wrists. The bodice
featured a high neckline
adorned with sequins. The full
skirt and cathedral length train
of tiered lace flowed gracefully
to the floor. The finger-tip veil
of tulle fell from a queen’s
crown of seed pearls and irides
cents and was previously worn
by her aunt, Mrs. Richard
Simmons. She carried a
Victorian cascade bouquet of
white roses, stephanotis, minia
ture carnations and baby’s
breath centered with a white
cattleya orchid.
Miss Anita Cottingham kept
the bride’s book in the foyer of
the church.
Following the wedding, a
reception was held at the
church.
Mrs. Jim Forsyth and Mrs.
Harry Stewart served the cake.
Mrs. George Johnston served
punch. Also assisting were Mrs.
Ussery, wore a gown of white
satin. The gown featured long
sleeves and a square neckline
with tiny white pearls. The
princess style bodice and skirt
were accented with lace
beginning at the neckline and
ending at the hemline. She wore
a headpiece of white satin
featuring tiny pearls with a
shoulder length veil of silk
illusion. The bride wore a pearl
necklace, given to her by her
mother. She carried a bouquet
of tiny white mums and baby
breath with streamers of white
satin ribbon tied with love
knots.
Following the wedding, a'
reception was held at the home
of the groom’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Johnson.
Serving at the reception were
Miss Debra Johnson, sister of
the groom, and Mrs. Dianne
McCulloch, sister-in-law of the
groom.

Mrs. Godard are residing in
Newnan. The groom is con
nected with Godard’s Clothing

Miss Lee and Mr. Plageman
graduated from West Georgia
College in Carrollton. Each
received the Bachelor of Busi
ness Administration degree
