Nunn urges
WASHINGTON (UPI) —Sen.
Sam Nunn, D-Ga., says the
Pentagon should plan to evacu
ate not just people but also up
to $5 billion in military
equipment from Vietnam to
keep it from the Communists.
“I can’t see any reason for a
$5 billion military aid program
for North Vietnam,” he told
Defense Secretary James R.
Schlesinger and Gen. Frederick
C. Weyand, Army chief of staff.
They appeared Tuesday
before the House and Senate
Armed Services committees to

ALL FOR NAUGHT
LEXINGTON, Ky. (UPI) -A
robber rammed a 16-ton bull
dozer through a bank Tuesday,
but he didn’t get any money.
The bulldozer shredded the
side of the building and pushed
a steel safe weighing several
thousand pounds about 15 feet.
But part of the bank floor
collapsed, the bulldozer got
stuck, and the bandit evidently
fled before dawn without any
money.
When police arrived on the
scene Tuesday morning the
machine was sitting amid the
splintered remains of the east
wall of the bank.
