Jane Fonda Sargent Shriver EUa Grasso
| Boycott Fonda
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (UPI) — Actress Jane Fonda has
drawn the wrath of the delegates to the 55th annual New
:$ York State American Legion. They have unanimously
adopted a resolution calling for a nationwide boycott of
■;s her films.
The Fonda resolution by 2,500 delegates called for the
boycott because the actress “openly displayed her
preference for a Viet Cong victory in Vietnam,”
S; “attempted in broadcasts on Hanoi radio to demoralize
American servicemen” and “attempted to cause a £
division between the younger and older citizens of our
nation.”
| Shriver checked first
MOBILE, Ala. (UPI) — Sargent Shriver says he
wouldn’t be planning to run for the Democratic
presidential nomination if Sen. Edward Kennedy also
intended to run.
“I talked with him before I decided to run,” said £:
Shriver, who is married to Kennedy’s sister, Eunice.
* ‘lt was only when I became personally, psychologically
if you will, convinced that he was not going to run, that he
would not accept the draft, that I thought it would be
appropriate for me to take the step,” Shriver told a news
conference Thursday before addressing the Alabama Bar
:$ Association convention.
§: Shriver, who was the party’s 1972 vice presidential
candidate on the ticket with Sen. George McGovern, D-
S.D., said he would formally announce his candidacy
“possibly in September.”
| Italian trip
HARTFORD, Conn. (UPI) - Gov. Ella Grasso,
Connecticut’s first governor of Italian descent, may visit
her parents’ homeland this September.
A spokesman for Mrs. Grasso confirmed Thursday she
and her husband Tom have “talked informally” about a
:$ trip.
Mrs. Grasso met with Fortunato Sgro, an Italian
marketing researcher who is visiting the United States
and Canada. Sgro was introduced to Mrs. Grasso by
Riccardo di Loreto, Italian vice counsul in Hartford.
Mrs. Grasso’s mother came from Voghera and her
father from Tortona. Her father, a baker, and mother
migrated to the United States at the turn of the century.
She was bom in Windsor Locks, Conn.
| Beauty miffed
COLUMBIA, S.C. (UPI) — Cheryl Von Lehe, Miss South
Carolina 1974, has filed a $1 million suit against Golf
Magazine charging unauthorized use of a photograph of
her. w
In the suit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court, Miss
Von Lehe said Golf Magazine, published in Norwich,
Conn., used a picture of her in a twopiece bathing suit in
its January issue of the magazine without her knowledge
® or consent.
She said the picture was used in an advertisement for
golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area of the state.
Miss Von Lehe gave up her title last Saturday during the
annual state pageant in Greenville.

More U.S. goods
subject to boycott
WASHINGTON (UPI) - In
formation gathered by the
Commerce Department shows
that despite congressional pro
tests, more and more U.S.
goods are being subjected to
the Arab League boycott
against Israel.
Undersecretary of Commerce
John K. Tabor disclosed that
the dollar value of U.S. goods
subjected to Arab boycott
demands has dramatically
risen in 1975 and already totals
$203,658,728.
This represents approximate
ly a 20-fold increase over 1974
— the value of goods affected
then was $9,948,78 — and a 30-
fold increase over 1973, when
the equivalent annual figure
was $7,021,878.
Typically, U.S. companies are
required to certify to Arab
importing nations that their
goods have not been manufac
tured in Israel and have not
been shipped on Israeli ships or
on vessels which have called at
Israeli ports.
Tabor made these figures,
and other documentation, avail
able to Sen. Harrison A.
Williams Jr., D-N.J., who
promised to draft retaliatory
legislation. Williams said in a
statement:
“These statistics are ex
tremely unsettling. They docu
ment an alarming increase in
attempts by foreign nations to
coerce American business into
discriminatory trade practices.
“In my judgment, this is
dramatic evidence of the need
for legislation to insure against
any further penetration of our
economy by foreign interests
which instigate such boycott
activities.”
Under U.S. law, American
corporations are not. prohibited
from complying with the
demands of the Arab League
boycott against Israel, but they
are required to report these
demands to the Commerce
Department.
In an effort to dramatize the
Arabs’ restrictive practices
Army gave
soldiers
LSD doses
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.
(UPI) — The Army gave LSD
to at least 10 “normal combat
type soldiers” at Ft. Bragg in
1957, according to retired Maj.
Gen. Lloyd Fellenz, commander
of the Army’s chemical re
search center in Maryland at
the time.
Fellenz was quoted by the
Fayetteville Times Thursday as
saying all those at Ft. Bragg
who were given the drug were
volunteers who knew they
would be given LSD, though
they did not know when or
under what circumstances. He
said 10 to 15 soldiers received
the drug.
Fellenz said he was given the
drug himself while observing
maneuvers at Ft. Bragg in
1957.
“The compound drug was in
the coffee,” he said. “I knew I
was going to get it but I didn’t
even suspect that it would be at
that time.”
He said after receiving the
drug, he first noticed a
tightening of muscles then “hot
flashes.” Fellenz said he was
partially incapacitated, his eyes
dilated and his sense of balance
was thrown off.
“There was a constant feeling
of nausea, a great thirst and
hallucenogenics — spiraling,
pulsating, vivid — every time I
closed my eyes,” he said.
He said that neither he nor
any of the soldiers who took the
drug at Ft. Bragg suffered
lasting adverse effects. All the
soldiers were given pshchologi
cal examinations before the
drug was administered, he said.
An Army spokesman at the
Defense Department, Maj. Phil
lip Fogle, said no information
was immediately available on
drug experimentation at Ft.
Bragg, though experiments
were conducted at Ft. Detrick
and the Army’s chemical
research center, formerly
known as Edgewood Arsenal.
He said Ft. Bragg records
may have been destroyed in a
fire 18 months ago during a fire
at an Army warehouse in St.
Louis, Mo.
against Israel, the Senate
subcommittee on multinational
corporations released on Feb.
25 a copy of the list of U.S.
companies currently being
blacklisted by Arab countries
because of their dealings with
Israel.
Some of the most prominent
U.S. corporations — Coca Cola,
Ford, Kaiser Aluminum and
others — appeared on that list.
State Department officials say
they do not condone the
boycott, but urge “quiet di
plomacy” to soften it.
Williams promised to draft an
amendment to the Foreign
Investment Act of 1975 barring
Arab companies involved in the
boycott from investing in U.S.
corporations.

DUPREE, the administrator of
the estate of James Thomas
DuPree, deceased, represents
to the court in his petition, duly
filed and entered on record, that
he has fully administered said
estate. This is, therefore, to cite
all persons concerned, heirs at
law and creditors of said
deceased, to show cause, if any
they can, why said
administrator should not be
discharged from his
administration and receive
letters of dismission on the first
Monday in August, 1975.
This 10th day of July, 1975.
