Tabernacle which will be dedicated Sunday. The church,
organized in 1938, had been housed in a one-story rock
building on West Cherry street until the congregation

Space mission trade
HOUSTON (UPI) — Proud of their initial successes as
ambassadors in orbit, a Russian and an American traded
places today for another round of scientific diplomacy
aboard the world’s first international space assembly.
Vance Brand moved first to the Soyuz, greeted Valeri
Kubasov and said good morning to Moscow control.
Alexei Leonov followed a few minutes later to the
American docking module before floating to the Apollo for
four hours of ceremony, work and sightseeing in the name
of science and detente.
Thomas Stafford met Leonov in the docking module and
said, “Alexei just gave me a present.” He held a portrait
of himself before a television camera. Leonov is an
amateur artist who is preparing a collection of sketches
on the joint project.
Reagan doesn’t worry Ford
WASHINGTON (UPI) - Word from the White House is
that Ronald Reagan doesn’t scare President Ford very
much.
A White House official says the President is more con
cerned about winning the November 1976 presidential
election than about beating the former California
governor for the Republican nomination.
Russia to import more
WASHINGTON (UPI) — The Soviet Union apparently is
going to import more grain than expected, but Europe,
Japan and China are likely to import less, according to
U.S. officials.
They say those trends should about cancel each other
out and the United States — with record grain crops —
should not have to strain its economy to supply its share of
world demand.

Two arrested in drug raid
Griffin police, GBI agents and
Spalding Sheriff’s officers
raided a house at 405 North Hill

two men for possessing illegal
drugs. Officers also confiscated
a quantity of marijuana and
illegal pills.
Lt. Glen Whidby of the police
narcotics division, said the raid
occurred about 10 p.m., with a
dozen lawmen participating.
While some surrounded the
house, others went inside.
Eleven bags of marijuana,
with a street value of around $25
each, and 45 white tablets,
thought to be phencyclidine,
an animal tranquilizer, were
found. The tablets could be sold
for about two-dollars a piece,
Whidby said.
Eddie James Jackon, 28, and
Walter Dean Anderson, 26, each
were charged with two counts of
violating the controlled sub
